CORRECTION:
· EBLAST sent Thursday, January 30th had an error. The SVR Backroads Driving Tour to Chico is on Tuesday, April 22nd, not April 20th. And registration opens Saturday, February 1st.
Racing Updates (since I talked about it in the January DRIFTER, I figured I should follow up with results)
Formula E
· The race on January 11th in Mexico City was won by Oliver Rowland, driving a Nissan.
· The Tag Heuer Porsche Team took 2nd and 3rd places (Da Costa and Wehrlein). Wehrlein started on the pole and Da Costa started 2nd).
· Da Costa is the series leader (16 races scheduled this year) with 37 points after 2 races. Wehrlein sits in 4th place with 21 points.
· Jeddah is the site of the next two races on February 14th and 15th
· TV coverage in the United States is typically handled by CBSSports (cable)
Rolex 24 at Daytona
· The Penske Porsche Team again won the race for the 2nd year in a row. The second Penske Porsche 963 finished in 3rd place.
· The other two Porsche 963 vehicles in the class were running at the end of the 24 hour race.
· The Iron Dames Team (car #83) that I was following closely during the 24 hour race finished in 8th place in the GTD class. This was the team that had 4 women drivers. They were competing in a Porsche 911 GT3 R (992)
The next IMSA race will be the Twelve Hours of Sebring. Practice and qualifying begin March 12th with the race occurring on March 15th.
