Member Of The Month

Kim and Rachel Nelson

"I first joined SVR-PCA in 1986 with a 914 but didn't have the time to participate in events so I let the membership lapse. Fast forward to 1999 and with a lifestyle change and the purchase of a 1965 356 C coupe and a 1998 993 C2S, I rejoined SVR and immediately got involved with social events, concours and autocrossing. I remember the 2000 Porsche Parade in Sacramento and my first CRAB like they happened yesterday - fabulous events and I met so many wonderful Porsche friends.

At a SVR dinner meeting in August of 2003 I met my future wife, Rachel, who had just purchased a 914 and was checking SVR out. Over the years Rachel and I have enjoyed participating in many SVR events as well as National events such as Porsche Parades, Treffen at Seas, Werks Reunions and Rennsports. Anyone who knows us know that we are also very passionate about the early 356 Porsches and are very active in the Northern California 356 California Alta Region club. Both Rachel and I agree, it's the cars that bring us together but it's the people that keep us coming back."

The holidays are just around the corner. The 2025 Christmas Party will be held in the showroom of Porsche Sacramento’s fabulous facility. The Porschettes are celebrating at Fat’s Asian Bistro in Roseville. The annual Christmas Tree decorating party will be held at CAM again. The New Years Day driving tour route is set, and our meet-up point host will be providing inside staging of the cars, along with pastries and refreshments before we start our 80-mile trek. Course Workers Vital to Successful AX #7

By Collin Fat

There were 36 drivers registered for the September 20th autocross at Thunderhill Raceway Park in Willows, California. With temperatures in the upper 80’s the weather was a reprieve from the 100-degree temperatures we experienced at our August event. All drivers received a total of 12 runs each with 6 completed in the morning session and 6 completed in the afternoon. The top 5 finishers wasted no time in the morning session establishing a target time for all the other drivers to meet or exceed.

October Autocross Featured 49 Drivers Testing and Showing Off Their Skills

By Greg Zajic

Attendance was up this for the October Autocross on October 18th.  It was part of a 2 day zone 7 autocross event in conjunction with the Redwood region event and we had 49 drivers testing and showing off their skill at the large pad at Thunderhill Raceway.

Porschettes Share a Common Bond Through Porsches

By Tammy Egger

The late-October sun streamed through the wide window of Cyndee’s living room, spilling across the table brimming with colorful dishes and the laughter of Porschettes. This was no ordinary afternoon potluck...

Andis Winery Tour - What a Great Drive!

By Rick Duste

Rain in the forecast but no rain makes for little traffic and a great drive. That’s the advantage to these overcast, light drizzle type days resulting in wide open roads, dry for the most part, and just the locals on the road.

1st Annual Charity Golf Tournament Supports Scholarship Opportunities

By Abe Kazimierek

This year the SVR Board decided that our charity focus would establish an ongoing program to provide scholarships to local students pursuing degrees in automotive technologies at Sierra College and American River College. Eighty-eight golfers participated in a fun-filled day at Sierra View Country Club in Roseville to support this charity goal. And a special thank you to our sponsors and donors!!!

The tour to Mendocino last weekend was spectacular with the fall colors, sunny days and great roads! Thank you to Rik Larson for putting together everything including a full packet of the agenda, road maps, additional info on things to do in Mendocino and Ft Bragg. The luncheon was great with meeting many new members and seeing our friends. Great food and view. Thank you to Bob and Lynda Calvert for opening up their gorgeous home overlooking the ocean Sunday morning. There was a 8’ buffet with many fine goodies, sandwiches and special baked goods by Franca one of our members. There were 42 people who attended this great get together.

PCA

Porsche Parade 2026 – Lake Placid, June 14th to 20th

The West Coast Series is a PCA club racing points competition comprised of the all the PCA club races that occur on the West Coast of the USA. Historically, club racing in the PCA has been most popular in the East Coast and Midwest. This series was created in 2014 to encourage West Coast club members to take up club racing by providing them with the increased competition and sense of camaraderie that comes with having one’s own competitive series. All PCA club racers are eligible to participate and all entrants to any of the club races tagged as a West Coast event are automatically entered into the series.
