The Undeserved Curse: How the Porsche 914 Became the Most Disrespected Sports Car in American Automotive History
A Study in Badge Snobbery, Corporate Mismanagement, and the Ongoing Plight of the 914 Owner
Introduction: A Sports Car Without a Home
There exists in the world of classic automobiles a peculiar and lamentable phenomenon: the deliberate, sustained undervaluing of a genuinely remarkable machine for reasons that have far more to do with corporate politics, brand snobbery, and the irrational tribalism of enthusiast culture than with any objective assessment of the automobile itself. The Porsche 914, produced from 1969 through the early months of 1976, is perhaps the most egregious example of this phenomenon in the entire canon of sports car history.

Lot's happening in SVR!
Due to scheduling requirements, the Board has moved the standing date for our board meetings from the first Tuesday to the second Thursday of the month. All members are welcome to attend. Club-sponsored pizza is provided.
I had the honor of attending the departmental BBQ at American River College where our scholarship recipients were announced, and Porsche Sacramento graciously hosted the ARC students for lunch and a tour. If you want to see the recipients and event photos, click on the link below.

From the VP & Tour Chair
Rick Duste
I’ve had a number of people ask about where they can buy radios like those our leads and sweeps are using on the driving tours. Members find it beneficial to be able to listen in to the leads and sweeps coordinating the drive as it progresses, as well as being able to chime in should the need arise or be helpful. Click link below for complete article and where to purchase information.

Porschettes Gardens Tour Recap
Note From Susan and Gail
The Porschettes had a fun filled day seeing six beautiful gardens on a tour in Folsom. The first exquisite garden filled with roses and lavender was owned by Rex & Gail Halverson's, Porsche members. We were enchanted with each houses artful plants, flowers and architecture features. One backyard surprised us with a western theme! We ended the day with many of the lady's having lunch in Old Town Folsom restaurant.
-Best wishes, Susan and Gail.

Presented By: Brian Adkins, Zone 7 Representative
Hello Zone 7!
Summer is arriving fast, and with it comes some of the busiest and best months of the PCA calendar. Across Zone 7, the sounds of early morning cars-and-coffee gatherings, autocross engines echoing across parking lots, and caravans of Porsches heading toward tours and events are becoming part of the rhythm of the season. This is the time of year where participation really comes alive.
Some members are chasing cones. Some are polishing paint for concours. Some are preparing for Parade. Some are planning cruises, track events, or road trips. Many are simply enjoying what brought us all here in the first place: driving these amazing cars with amazing people.
Whether you attend one event or twenty this year, I encourage you to get involved beyond your home garage. Visit another Region. Try a new activity. Meet someone new. PCA continues to thrive because members continue to participate.
| | Porsche Parade 2026 – Lake Placid, June 14th to 20th | | The West Coast Series is a PCA club racing points competition comprised of the all the PCA club races that occur on the West Coast of the USA. Historically, club racing in the PCA has been most popular in the East Coast and Midwest. This series was created in 2014 to encourage West Coast club members to take up club racing by providing them with the increased competition and sense of camaraderie that comes with having one’s own competitive series. All PCA club racers are eligible to participate and all entrants to any of the club races tagged as a West Coast event are automatically entered into the series. | | Click button below to access all the Porsche Panoramas | | | | |
