Sakstavists Performing Kindness
Students at Trabuco Mesa Elementary school are at it again!
Saktivists, featured in a previous edition of our eNewsletter, are participating in a 5 week Random Acts of Kindness challenge with the Segerstrom Center for the Arts cast of Come From Away. At the end of the challenge our very own Mrs. Kelly and her students will be featured at the "We All Have Stories - Kindness" event to be held 2/16 at the Argyros Plaza. Admission is free.

Full Day Kindergarten in 2019-2020
SVUSD Inclusion Revolution
Unified Sports continues to expand in schools throughout SVUSD. Students with special needs, and students without, have ongoing opportunities to practice, play, compete, and represent their schools inclusively in year-round sports and events.On January 23rd, Mission Viejo High School and Trabuco Hills High School played their first Unified Basketball game together at Mission. MVHS and THHS both have Unified Sports teams and have been practicing various sports all year; including Unified Flag Football and Unified Basketball. MVHS and THHS both plan to represent their school in the first CIF-SS Unified Track and Field Meet on May 11th at THHS. SVUSD is thrilled to be part of The Inclusion Revolution! https://www.jointherevolution.org/
SVUSD Named to AP District Honor Roll
The AP District Honor Roll recognizes school districts committed to increasing access to AP for underrepresented students while simultaneously maintaining or increasing the percentage of students earning AP Exam scores of 3 or higher. AP District Honor Roll recipients are committed to expanding the availability of AP courses among prepared and motivated students of all backgrounds. SVUSD is proud to be recognized in this category!

Cox Charities Awards SVUSD Teachers
SVUSD Teachers Granted $26,000
Links To Learning is a philanthropy project of The Assistance League of Saddleback Valley. This program awards funds to middle and high school teachers allowing them to purchase additional tools to enrich classroom learning as well as expand the existing curriculum with new innovative approaches. Forty-three checks totaling approximately $26,000
were presented to Saddleback Valley Unified School District educators in 2018-2019. Our teachers and students thank you Assistance League of Saddleback Valley!
CA Retired Teachers Association Grants
Calling all SVUSD Teachers!

California Retired Teacher's Association is offering teacher grants. They're sure Karee Goodman with Del Cerro Elementary is glad she entered the last round! Thanks Marcia Jones, President of Division 42 - Orange County Coast, for delivering Karee's $100 check! Here's the link to the current grant sign-up.
Secondary School Choice Window
Open January 7 - February 14, 2019
The Secondary (incoming 7th-12th grade) School Choice application window opened January 7, 2019. This process is for SVUSD residents who want to transfer their student in the 2019-2020 school year to another school within SVUSD. You can apply online now.

Deadline to apply is February 14, 2019 at 4:30pm.

The Saddleback Valley Unified School District Board of Trustees encourages community members to attend and participate in its business meetings whenever possible.
Closed session board business is typically conducted at 5:00 p.m. followed by open session business typically beginning at 6:00 p.m. Meetings are held in the SVUSD Education Center Board Room located at 25631 Peter A. Hartman Way, Mission Viejo.
