"On March 7, 2019, our families and staff, past and present, came together with our community to celebrate the 50 th Anniversary of Linda Vista . From food, family and fun to learning more about the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program, hundreds were on hand to see our scholars in action. Thank you to our alumni from both La Paz Intermediate and Laguna Hills High Schools who performed for us. If you haven’t seen Linda Vista Magnet Elementary School lately, be sure to come visit!" - Suzy McMasters, Principal
Teacher Alicia Greenway's 4th grade class at Gates Elementary participated and won The Stock Market Game, an online simulation of the global capital markets that engages students grades 4-12 in the world of economics, investing and personal finance. The game is designed to teach and promote financial literacy among students by challenging them to grow a $100,000 stock portfolio over the course of 12 weeks. The Stock Market Game Program Awards Ceremony will recognize the top team winner on Friday, May 17, 2019 at Cetera Financial Group Headquarters in El Segundo. The winners from Gates are: Wyatt Elder, Xavier McDaniels, Ethan Paffrath, and Asher Schweizer.

TEXTBOOK ADOPTION INFORMATION
During the current school year, textbooks for the subjects and grade levels listed below are being reviewed and will be recommended for a pilot for use in SVUSD schools for the 2019-2020 school year. The full implementation of adopted materials will be for the 2020-2021 school year. Materials being considered for adoption will be on display for parents in Room 5 at the SVUSD District Office in Room 5. It is anticipated that recommendations for piloted materials will be finalized in May 2019. Input from parents is a valuable part of the adoption process.

The Saddleback Valley Unified School District Board of Trustees encourages community members to attend and participate in its business meetings whenever possible.
Closed session board business is typically conducted at 5:00 p.m. followed by open session business typically beginning at 6:00 p.m. Meetings are held in the SVUSD Education Center Board Room located at 25631 Peter A. Hartman Way, Mission Viejo.
