Board of Education Reorganization On December 14, Suzie R. Swartz was selected as the President of the Saddleback Valley Unified School District Board of Education during the annual reorganization meeting. Pictured above is President Swartz with outgoing President, Dr. Wong. The Board acknowledged Dr. Wong's contributions to our stakeholders and thanked him for his service. SVUSD Board of Education Saddleback Church Staples Donations Saddleback Church generously provided 1,065 $30 Staples gift cards for our teachers in appreciation for all of their hard work and dedication to our students throughout the pandemic. Winter Break Meal Distribution We will be serving on Monday, December 21 from 11 am -1 pm at El Toro High School, Silverado High School and Trabuco Hills High School. All children 18 and under are able to receive meals. Children do not need to be present in the car. We will be distributing 6 days’ worth of meals, both breakfast and lunch. Regular meal distribution will resume at our 7 secondary locations on Monday, January 4, 2021.   Food Services Saddleback College Learning Pathways Check out this opportunity for career exploration through general education. Essay Contest Winner The Orange County Healthcare Agency recently held a “Mask Message Contest” for students in three categories: mask art, written essay, and social video. There were over 600 entries and 2 SVUSD students were selected as winners: 6th grade La Madera student, Kaj L., won 3rd place (elementary) and 8th grade student, Harper B. also won 3rd place (intermediate) in the written essay category resulting in a $5,000 technology grant for each school. You may read additional details regarding winners and access both essays through the link below. Mask Message Contest Suicide Prevention Parent Webinars This free webinar and Facebook Live event will provide information about suicide prevention for parents, including warning signs for suicide and resources for both parents and teens. Parent ST Math Workshop Join the ST Math Educators to learn more about the purpose of ST Math and how to facilitate ST Math at home. We know a lot of students are working on ST Math independently at home and sometimes need parent or guardian support. These workshops will help parents or other caregivers know when and how to help to maximize learning. TLC staff is welcome to join as well. Family Workshop Unified Esports Winning Season Unified Esports playoffs were December 16th. El Toro High School Unified finished in 2nd place overall and Trabuco Hills High School Unified in 3rd place overall. They had some tough competition, but in the end both teams had a wonderful season and great experience for all. Jordan Reed led ETHS’s team and Kara Johnson led the THHS's team. Congratulations to both teams for an outstanding season!
