New this Year - Morning Announcements
Each morning, an SVdP student will present the morning announcements. This is an opportunity for all faculty and students to come together as a community in prayer.
| |
PikMyKid - Announce Daily and Change Dismissal Mode
Please help our car line go quickly by announcing your arrival on PikMyKid. Click on "Pickup" at the bottom of the screen and hit the "Announce" button. Failure to announce causes delays in the car line, as your child's teacher is not notified that you have arrived.
Also, don't forget to change your child's PMK dismissal mode on the days they have athletic practice or another activity after school!
To make a dismissal mode change, choose the Child from the Children's tab of your PMK APP, and choose the date to change the pickup. You will be able to make single or recurring changes. Be sure to scroll down to see the full list of dismissal options.

Learning is Fun in Kindergarten!
Mrs. Sprague
Mrs. Sprague has been at SVdP for 11 years and this is her 15th year teaching. Outside of school she loves to spend time with her family, travel, and go hiking. Her favorite part about teaching kindergarten is how excited the students are about learning new things and watching them grow throughout the school year.
| |
Ms. Boitel
Ms. Boitel has worked as a kindergarten teacher at SVdP for 6 years. Ms. Boitel loves bringing music and movement into the classroom. The children really enjoy their spontaneous dance parties as a fun way to get their wiggles out. When she's not at school, Ms. Boitel enjoys attending music festivals, cheering on her favorite sports teams, and hanging out with friends and family. Her favorite thing about teaching kindergarten is watching the children get so excited about learning new things.
| |
Ms. Sickler
This is Ms. Sickler's third year at SVdP and fifth year teaching. This is her first year teaching kindergarten at SVdP. Outside of the classroom she loves reading, cooking, baking, and playing both board and video games. Ms. Sickler's favorite thing about teaching kindergarten is working with the kids and seeing their curiosity and love for learning. She thinks the best part of the school day is when she does read alouds.

This year's book drive, benefiting Books Between Kids, was a tremendous success, with 5,282 books being donated to children in need. The impact of these donations will be felt for years to come, as children are given the gift of literacy and the opportunity to escape into the magical world of books. The book drive helps us celebrate this month's Gospel value of "community", as we worked together to help others less fortunate. Thank you to Ms. James and Mrs. Rinando for their hard work in organizing this event. Thank you to Mr. Moudry, Mr. Quattrucci, Mr. Shanahan, Teddy Hogan, Bobby Equale, and Cade Calato for helping load up the books!
The winners of the DONUT party are:

Academic Independence Bootcamp
This week wrapped up the five day executive functioning bootcamp for grades 4-8. The training included note-taking skills, study strategies and ways to reduce test anxiety. All sessions included brain break ideas, such as deep breathing, drinking water, and movement. The parent seminar to reinforce the boot camp lessons at home is scheduled for Tuesday, September 10 at 8:00 AM.
Academic Independence Parent Seminar
Tuesday, September, 10, 2024
Time: 8:00 AM-9:00 AM
Place: Monsignor Jamail Family Center
In this seminar, parents will learn how to effectively support and hold their children accountable for the valuable skills they've acquired in our boot camps. From organizing weekly tasks and managing their belongings to mastering study techniques, we'll equip you with practical strategies to reinforce these habits at home.
You'll discover ways to help your child stay focused, enhance memory retention, and solidify their learning. By attending, you'll be empowered to foster your child's resilience and independence while building a solid foundation of executive functioning skills that will benefit them for years.

Introducing Laura Dols
Director of Advancement
| |
Laura Dols joins the SVdP team with 17 years of experience working in advancement at schools including Annunciation Orthodox School, The Fay School, and St. Michael Catholic School. She served on the PTO board for several years at SVdP, making this an easy transition.
Laura and her husband, Chris, have two children who are current SVdP Tigers, George (3rd) and Lila (1st). She is a proud Houstonian, a baseball mom, and she loves traveling and making memories with her family.
Laura enjoys working in school development because she can witness how philanthropic gifts directly help move the mission of a school forward. She enjoys fostering the enthusiasm of a community, while helping families navigate how they can make a difference in their children's education through gifts of time, talents, and treasure. As a proud SVdP parent, she has seen the mission at work with her children and she is thrilled for the opportunity to continue her career at St. Vincent de Paul.
