A message from your Region Missionary:
Dear friends,
The season of Pentecost is almost upon us. I have been thinking about the fire of the Holy Spirit descending upon the first disciples as I watch the unfolding protests happen across the country. The fire of burning buildings reminds me that change is rarely tame. In fact, our call as Christians is to step into the chaos of the Spirit as she lands among those least expected to change history. I hope that we are finding ways to stand in solidarity with our Black siblings and young people who are calling for transformation of this country.
I imagine that if you follow that thought it might lead you to the two questions that the Bishops have invited us to consider at our SW Region Town Hall:
What are we learning? What is God saying to us? I think there is something in these questions that is asking us to stretch our imaginations. I bet you will come to the conversation with many things to share about life in your parish and life in your homes, and maybe even with some things to share about your life in relation to the changing world. I am looking forward to hearing your learnings and your listenings.
I hope to see you on June 9th at 6:30pm (more info below) for what is sure to be a good conversation. Until then, I hope you experience a bit of Holy Spirit fire lighting you up this weekend!
Peace and blessings,
Erendira
