|
|
Greece's Black Thrash band SWAMP and U.S. based Death Thrash band FETID ZOMBIE have teamed up alongside MORBID VISIONS MUSIC to release a new split cassette "Necromantic Passages" featuring new music from both bands. "Necromantic Passages", set to be released in a limited edition this coming September 14th, will include three newly recorded tracks from each band along with artwork designed by long established artist Mark Riddick.
For the first half of the split SWAMP offers up two new barbaric hymns of raw and uncompromising Blackened Death / Thrash invoking the true spirit of underground Metal, as well as an excellent cover of TORMENTOR's "Tormentor I". The recording for these tracks took place at Vision of Sound Studio in Ioannina, Greece with help from Thomas Nastos during the mixing process.
THE CULT IS ALIVE!
FETID ZOMBIE pay homage to the early 90's Greek Metal scene on the final few tracks of the split with three new atmospheric Death Metal hymns. Recordings and mixing for these tracks were completed at Dungeon 325 in Leesburg, Virginia (U.S.). Although a solo project at heart FETID ZOMBIE's lone member Mark Riddick often enlists well known guest musicians, on this release guest appearances by members of Absu, Soulskinner and Where Evil Follows can be found. FETID ZOMBIE aim to achieve Death Metal in the most classic sense while bringing to the table traditional Heavy Metal elements showcasing Riddick's broad appreciation for the music he has been dedicated to for the better part of the last twenty five years.
The "Necromantic Passages" Split CASSETTE will be available for purchase on the Riddick Art Big Cartel webpage starting September 14th.

Nyarlathotep
(Vocals, Text, Synth)
Splatter (Bass, Guitar, Synth)
Psychopath (Drums)
Greek metal band, SWAMP, was initiated in 2000 under the guise of POSER HOLOCAUST. After the release of one demo tape, featuring several cover tracks, Nyarlathotep and Splatter changed the name to SWAMP, added Skullcrusher to the line-up, pursued writing and recording blackened thrash metal songs in their own underground fashion, and published a limited demo cassette, "Live Holocaust," in 2004. A few years later, SWAMP published their "Praise the Goat" demo tape, soon followed by the departure of Skullcrusher and replacement-Schizo. In 2010, SWAMP's "Nuclear Death" EP was released by Polish label, Time Before Time Records and was subsequently repressed by Chilean labels, Proselytism and Dog Fight Records. In 2014 Schizo was replaced by Psychopath, and SWAMP invoked their debut full-length, "Underground Manifesto," featuring special guests from VARATHRON and MYSTIFIER. The full-length was released in CD format by Mexican label, Atolinga Records, on vinyl format by American label, Stygian Black Hand, and on cassette format by Greek label, Fistbang Records. 2014 also saw SWAMP's appearance on the "Evil Spells" LP compilation published by Stygian Black Hand alongside bands like POSSESSION, OCCULT BURIAL, SPITE, etc. In 2015, SWAMP carried on in the blackened death/thrash style with two new songs and a TORMENTOR cover for the split release, "Necromantic Passages," with American death metal act, FETID ZOMBIE. The cult is alive!

Mark Riddick
(Vocals, Guitar, Bass, Fourfold Bow of the Abyss, Drum Programming, Synth, Alto Recorder, Text and Visuals)
FETID ZOMBIE is the solo death metal effort of renowned underground illustrator, Mark Riddick. While Riddick operates alone in the composition and execution of FETID ZOMBIE's material, he often recruits well-known and respected guest musicians on his titles. Riddick is no stranger to publishing death metal music, having firmly rooted himself in the underground scene since his first demo efforts under the UNEARTHED and EXCRESCENT monikers circa 1991. Although FETID ZOMBIE has shifted musical courses in its path toward self-discovery since its genesis in 2007, FETID ZOMBIE has remained grounded in its old school death metal approach, executed by a real veteran of the scene. FETID ZOMBIE's style employs death metal in the most classic sense while bringing to the table traditional heavy metal elements throughout; showcasing Riddick's broad appreciation for the music he has dedicated his talent and craft to for the past two and a half decades.
