Registration Now Open for Five Region Meetings: Supervisor & Staff Training
IASWCD, ISDA and IDEA have planned five region meeting locations and dates for Supervisors and Staff this year. Join us for an optional tour (at 3 of the locations) and an evening of beneficial training, discussion and networking!
A light-hearted competition between regions will take place based on attendance. Bring a canned good/non-perishable to the meeting and receive extra points for your region!

District Showcase Award - apply by July 31
Your team works hard and IASWCD wants to hear about it. Nominate your District for this District Showcase Award so we can help you tell your story and share your successes. This award highlights the successes of up to four local Indiana Soil and Water Conservation Districts (SWCDs). The winners will be recognized at the Annual Conference of Indiana SWCDs' Conservation Award Banquet. Also, each winning District receives a customized video for promoting their District. NACD July   U&C Webinar
The next NACD Urban and Community Conservation webinar entitled Collaborating for Water Quality  is on July 19 @ 12:00 p.m -1:00 p.m. EST. These popular webinars, held on the third Thursday of each month, are sponsored by The Scotts Miracle-Gro Company in partnership with the NACD Urban and Community Resource Policy Group. There is no cost to participate, but space is limited. Registration will be accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis. Organic Agriculture Professional Development Training
Organic agriculture trainings, being held on September 5 and 13, are being offered to equip Indiana Conservation Partnership (ICP) staff with basic knowledge on organic production, markets, regulatory requirements, and resources and programs, in order for our respective agencies and organizations to better support the increasing number of organic operations in Indiana. September 5 training held at the Brawner Farm in Madison, IN. More information and register here . The September 13 training is held at BioSteward Farms in northeast Indiana. Call for articles for 17th edition of "National Water Monitoring News"
The National Water Quality Monitoring Council is soliciting articles for the 17th edition of the Council newsletter ( National Water Monitoring News ). This edition will highlight recent activities of the national Council as well as those of state, regional, and tribal councils, watershed partnerships, and volunteer monitoring groups and much more! Potential contributors will need to submit draft text and supporting items by August 31, 2018. Articles or announcements should highlight recent successes, projects, publications, tools, or findings of interest to this community or announce upcoming events that might be of interest. The Indianapolis Zoo provides a variety of science-based lesson plans that will deepen students’ understanding of wildlife and the importance of conservation. All programs are designed to engage students through meaningful, hands-on learning. The Zoo also offers a variety of professional development opportunities for educators and guidance counselors. 50 high school teams to participate in NCF Envirothon at Idaho State University
by NCF Envirothon
(Idaho State Journal) — High school teams from throughout the United States, Canada and the Republic of China will soon be competing on the campus of Idaho State University at the 30th NCF Envirothon competitions.
Fifty teams will be spending six days, July 22 through 27, studying Idaho’s natural resources and vying for more than $30,000 in prize money provided by Smithfield Foods.
Teams from as far away as Prince Edward Island and the Republic of China will be spending the week studying the soils, aquatics, wildlife and forestry of the region. The event is organized by the Idaho Envirothon Committee and the Idaho Association of Soil Conservation Districts. Read more ...
Pesticide Clean Sweep Project
Sponsored by the Office of Indiana State Chemist (OISC), this clean sweep project taking place across the state is a great way for people and entities to dispose of suspended, canceled, banned, unusable, opened, unopened or just unwanted pesticides for free or very low cost. Those wanting to participate are required to complete and submit a   planning form   by mail, e-mail or fax by Tuesday, July 31, 2018 to Garret Creason .
