Momentum Award Winner
The Ohio State Board of Education has granted the district a 2017-2018 Momentum Award. For the third year in a row, both Etna Elementary and Watkins Memorial High School have been recipients of this award. The state recognizes districts that have received A’s on every Value-Added measure on the district report cards. The Value-Added measure focuses on student subgroups including gifted students, students in the lowest 20 percent in achievement, and students with disabilities.

As a Momentum Award winner, the district continues to show its commitment to student success and growth expectations in English language arts and math. The teachers and leaders in this district in collaboration with our students have earned this award through their commitment to academic excellence. District leadership values and recognizes the outstanding achievement and work of all of our students and we look forward to the continued success throughout our schools.
SWL Early Learning Center - 5 Star Rating
In recognition of a commitment to quality and an ongoing dedication to the learning and development of children, The SWL Early Learning Center has received a Five-Star Step Up To Quality Award from the State of Ohio.

Step Up To Quality is Ohio’s rating system for learning and development programs. Participating programs can earn a one to five star rating.

Research confirms that the first five years of a child’s life has a direct impact on how children develop emotional well-being, in addition to, learning and social skills. For these reasons, the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services and the Ohio Department of Education are committed to improving early childhood opportunities for all children in the state.

Congratulations to the SWL Early Learning Center!

Communication Requests
SWL staff and students do many amazing things. We try to highlight as many of them as we can, but unfortunately we miss some. In an effort to streamline our process, we have created a "Communications Request Form" on our district website (under Quicklinks). If you feel that there is something academic, athletic or extracurricular that should be highlighted, please fill out the form. Once the form is filled out, a member of our communications committee will determine where this information should be highlighted.
