SWTA Bargaining Update as of
Wednesday, August 31, 2022 @ 3:00 p.m.
Today your SWTA Bargaining Team met with the SBUSD bargaining team (Melissa Griffith, Jaime Gonzalez, Kevin Coordt, Rigo Lara, and Jon Pearl).

The following articles were proposed by SWTA during today’s session (SBUSD Proposals coming soon):

Your bargaining team listened to your concerns and is fighting for the contract you deserve. In addition to proposals to address workload concerns related to combination classes, SPED, and psychologists and counselors, we have also proposed a 10% increase to our salary schedule, and a $1000 increase to the District’s benefit contribution. Please review the articles for specific details!

The district also discussed a “conceptual proposal” for a three year contract addressing salary, benefit, and class size. Conceptual proposals are not official proposals, and your bargaining team is waiting for official counter proposals on these issues, along with counter proposals on Specialists and Special Education.

We will need the support of SWTA members if we are going to win the contract we deserve! Our ability to negotiate a better deal and have power at the table depends on YOUR actions. We know a fair settlement will require even more solidarity. Stay tuned for an update from SWTA’s Organizing Team for next steps in our fight for a student and teacher centered contract!

Future In-Person Bargaining Date: September 7th.

Sincerely,

Brenda Robles (Bargaining Chair), Alvaro Alvarez, Lorena Garcia, Norma Sahagun, Melissa Romo and Helen Farias (CTA Staff).
