SWTA Bargaining Update as of
Monday, July 18, 2022 @ 2:30 p.m.
Today your SWTA Bargaining Team met with the SBUSD bargaining team (Melissa Griffith, Tom Bevilacqua, Jaime Gonzalez, Kevin Coordt, Rigo Lara, and Jon Pearl).

Welcome back to a new school year! We have reached a tentative agreement on the MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING (MOU) REGARDING Universal Transitional Kindergarten for the 2022-2023 school year.

Key provisions include:

  • 24:1 teacher to student ratio, 12:1 adult to child ratio
  • Additional support for classrooms with mainstreamed TK students
  • Transfer rights into TK positions for eligible preschool teachers
  • Unit members are not responsible for toileting and diapering of TK students
  • Continued negotiations around self contained TK combo classes

We will post the full TA as soon as both parties have had the opportunity to sign.

Remember, we will continue to negotiate our successor agreement which includes wages, benefits, class size, specialists, and more. Our ability to negotiate a better deal and have power at the table depends on YOUR actions. We know a fair settlement will require even more solidarity. Stay tuned for ways to support your bargaining team!

Future Bargaining Dates:  Aug. 26th , Aug. 31, and Sept. 7th.

Sincerely,

Brenda Robles (Bargaining Chair), Alvaro Alvarez, Lorena Garcia,  Norma Sahagun, Melissa Romo and Helen Farias (CTA Staff).
