Reweaving Connection & Civic Imagination
with Tisha Brown

"At a time when polarization and disconnection seem to be pulling us apart, I believe there’s a deep need for spaces that invite us to slow down, reconnect, and imagine new ways of being in community together.
This fall, I’m launching a project called Reweaving Connection & Civic Imagination—a free 1-hour listening circle inspired by the Circle of Trust® approach developed by Parker Palmer and the Center for Courage & Renewal. These sessions are designed to help us practice courageous listening, build trust across difference, and strengthen the civic fabric that holds us together.
If you care deeply about justice, democracy, and belonging—and you’re feeling the weight of the current moment—I invite you to join one of three free preview sessions happening this fall. We’ll reflect, reconnect, and explore how a quiet, intentional circle can help us imagine and co-create a healthier future for our communities."

SWWAP Hits The Road and Will Join No Kings Rally In Dodgeville
On Saturday, October 18, join the Southwest Wisconsin Area Progressives caravan to unite with our friends from Dodgeville and Mineral Point in resistance of presidential royalty. We will meet at Brix Cider, 119 S. Second Street in Mt. Horeb at 9 AM and caravan to Dodgeville for the 10 AM rally kick off located at 222 N Iowa Street. Ride sharing is encouraged, and attendees can adopt one of nearly 100 striking SWWAP protest signs. After the Dodgeville rally folks can return to Mt. Horeb and have a presence at the corner of Main and Second Street.
Our peaceful movement is only getting bigger and stronger. “NO KINGS” isn’t just a catchy phrase—it’s the very essence of our nation’s roots, echoing from the bustling city streets to the quiet rural corners, rallying people across this land to stand together against dictatorship.
So, let’s make a little history together—join us, spread the word, and invite others to be part of this vital movement. Together, we are unstoppable!
In America we do not put up with would be kings, and this rally will put an exclamation point on No Kings!
*A core principle behind all No Kings events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at these events. Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to events.

SENIOR MOMENTS OF RESISTANCE
In March, elders in their 80s and 90s came together to protect Medicare, Medicaid, and food stamps for themselves, their children and grandchildren, and all Americans. Since then, they've adopted the name Silver Badgers, and have organized several large rallies on the West Side of Madison.
These folks may be old, but they're feisty! In their youth, they demonstrated for civil rights, women's rights, gay rights, and protecting the environment, and against the Vietnam War. Now, they're working to defend democracy and the rule of law from a would-be king. Their accessible rallies on a busy street corner have drawn upwards of 500 people.
Go, Silver Badgers!

GENERAL STONY SILENCE GREETS TRUMP AT SUMMIT | Last Thursday, September 25, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth suddenly announced he was calling about 800 of the nation's top military generals and admirals, along with their top enlisted advisors, to meet at Marine Corps Base Quantico, Virginia, today. | | | | Political satire uses humor, irony, and exaggeration to mock and criticize political figures, institutions, and public policies. It serves as a powerful form of social commentary that can provoke thought, influence public opinion, and hold those in power accountable. | |

Trump Blames Tylenol for autism
Science Doesn't Back Him Up

Many physicians and autism advocacy groups said they opposed the administration's stance.
"It is highly unsettling that our federal health agencies are willing to make an announcement that will affect the health and well-being of millions of people without the backing of reliable data," Steven J. Fleischman, M.D., president of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, said in a written statement.
Even the notice about acetaminophen issued to physicians by the Food and Drug Administration pointed out that a possible link to autism was an area of ongoing scientific debate, and said that "while an association between acetaminophen and autism has been described in many studies, a causal relationship has not been established and there are contrary studies in the scientific literature." - NPR
