SYA continues to be good stewards of our childrens' safety. We are currently re-evaluating current protocols issued by Federal, State and Local officials. While there is a relaxation going on, there is still a need for unvaccinated coaches/officials to wear masks.

The Washington Nationals Team UP Program, Recognizes SYA Volunteer, Larry Hopkins

In 2015, the Nationals launched Team UP a substantial, multi-faceted program with a mission to provide resources and programs that supports youth baseball and softball. Team UP provides at no cost uniforms, player visits, game day experiences, recognition opportunities and recruiting assistance for its member leagues.

They asked each Nationals Team UP league to nominate someone who this past spring season generously served their league, encouraged their youth players and exemplified teamwork and sportsmanship. Larry Hopkins was nominiated by Southwestern Youth Association and was selected as a Volunteer of the Year!

Fairfax County Stuff the Bus to Fight Hunger in our Neighborhoods

Stuff the Bus began in 2011 in response to a critical need to help restock the shelves of local food pantries after the holidays. This collaborative program is a partnership between Fairfax County Government and local nonprofits. Now in its 10th year, Stuff the Bus continues to support food assistance efforts for families and households.
