The Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) is the nation’s largest youth employment program, connecting NYC youth between the ages of 14 and 24 with career exploration opportunities and paid work experience each summer. Roads to Success is proud to offer this opportunity and may be selected as a provider on the application.
SYEP gives youth a unique opportunity to explore their interests and discover new ones through:
Career Exploration: Flex your research skills and discover new career possibilities.
Project-Based Learning: Younger youth ages 14—15 learn about career opportunities and make a difference in their communities through paid project-based learning activities.
Work Experiences: Older youth ages 16–24 improve their work readiness skills and explore career pathways through paid summer jobs in a variety of industries throughout NYC.
Community Building: Learn valuable skills to become an active citizen at work and in your community.
Earn Money: Get paid to participate!

Program Details
Project Based Learning: Youth Ages 14-15
Learn about career opportunities and make a difference in the community through paid project-based activities
Work 12.5 hours weekly; 75 hours total
Receive a stipend totaling $700
Must be 14 years old by July 5, 2023
Work Experience: Youth Ages 16-24
Improve work readiness skills and explore career pathways through paid summer jobs in a variety of industries throughout NYC
Work 25 hours weekly; 150 hours total
Earn a New York State minimum wage of $15 per hour
Must be 16 years old by July 5, 2023
Eligibility
Must be a resident of one of the five NYC boroughs
Legally allowed to work in the US
Timeline
Feb 13th - March 31st 2023: Applications being accepted
April 2023: Participant selections & document enrollment
June 2023: Participant orientation & workplace assignments
You may only submit one application for SYEP. Selection into SYEP is based on a lottery. Submission of an application does not guarantee that you will be offered a summer experience.
