FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Sacramento Hispanic Small Business Leader to Receive Statewide Recognition at the

California Hispanic Chamber of Commerce

Sacramento, CA- This week at the California Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Convention, Sacramento native, small business owner, and long-standing member of the Sacramento Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (SACHCC), Marcus Gomez will be recognized as the Small Business Advocate of the Year.

“Marcus Gomez is an established and long-standing small business owner, advocate, and leader," says Cathy Rodriguez Aguirre, President and CEO of SACHCC. “His career and heart have been transformational in the advancement of our communities all across the Greater Sacramento Region and across California.”

Along with being recognized as the Small Business Advocate of the Year, this coming week, the delegates from the California Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (CHCC) will also have the opportunity to elect Gomez for Vice Chair of the CHCC Board.

Gomez, a Sacramento native, took over the family business, California Clothing Recyclers (CCR), in 1977. CCR recycles more than 3.5 million pounds of clothing distributed not only in California but with shipments to Central America, South America, and the Middle East and recently celebrated its 25th Anniversary in business. CCR was recognized by SACHCC as the “Small Business of the Year” in 2013 and by the Sacramento Metro Chamber “Small Business of the Year” in 2014.

As the current Chair for the SHCC PAC, former Chairman of the SACHCC Board, and active member at the SACHCC, Gomez helped pave the way for many small businesses in Sacramento. Additionally, Gomez championed strong fundraising goals to help fund programs and provide direct small business assistance. Gomez currently represents the Central Region and served on the executive board of the CHCC; and serves as the President of the Board of the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Northern CA.

“Marcus’s life is rooted in opening new opportunities to other small businesses and the next generation of leaders. It gives me hope to have a trusted Sacramento native and business owner, be an advocate and voice for small businesses across California,” Rodriguez Aguirre concluded.
