Compatriots and Friends of the SAR
I enjoyed our March breakfast meeting; we had great attendance accompanied by lively discussion. The colors were presented by our color guard commanded by Russ Kaiser; they were impressive.
We finalized our 2026 chapter meeting and America 250 events schedule for 2026. Our event calendar is posted in our newsletter - click the button below.
Mark your calendars, in lieu of a Saturday breakfast meeting, our May meeting will be a Youth Awards dinner on May 20th at the Old Spaghetti Factory, 12401 Folsom Blvd, in Rancho Cordova. Details will follow soon.

I am pleased to announce that Compatriot Don Huffman has agreed to serve as chapter secretary in 2026, and I had the honor of administering the oath of office to him. Please join me in welcoming him to our leadership team. We have had many members volunteer to serve in various committee leadership roles this year; but there are many opportunities still available for those who wish to help us promote the Spirit of '76' in our community. Contact me if you would like to be part of this great effort.
Reminder, Russ Kaiser, still has openings in the May 16th black powder training course. We are planning to fire muskets in the Carmichael Elks Lodge 4th of July Parade. To participate in the firing portion of this event, you must hold a valid NRA Certificate of Basic Black Powder Training issued by a certified instructor. Detailed information is in the body of the newsletter. SAR Youth Protection Training is mandatory for participating in these events. Details can be found in the body of the newsletter. After you have completed the training, send a copy of your certificate to me.
Thank you all for your support of the SAR; working together, we can make America 250 memorable in our community. If you haven't attended a chapter meeting, please consider doing so. I will look forward to seeing you on Saturday, April 18th.
Libertas et Patria,
Craig Anderson

THE NATIONAL SOCIETY SONS OF THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION’S
YOUTH PROTECTION POLICY
“The SAR strives to create and maintain a safe environment for all youth who participate in SAR sponsored activities. To the best of their ability, Compatriots and staff, their spouses and partners, and other event volunteers must safeguard the children and young people with whom they come into contact and protect them from physical, sexual, and psychological abuse.”
Youth Protection Awareness and Youth Protection Training
All Compatriots should be aware of the need for Youth Protection Programs and the NSSAR’s YP Policies. Youth Protection Training (YPT) is a critical component of the best practices for organizations who work with young people and for the SAR it is mandatory for all Compatriots in Leadership Positions, Color Guard Members, School Guard Members, and Professional Staff and any Compatriots who work with young people through our Education Outreach Programs, Youth Contests, or with the Children of the American Revolution. This would include but is not limited to Compatriots on the following committees: Americanism, American History Teacher Award, Eagle Scout, Knight Essay, ROTC/JROTC, Rumbaugh and Engagements, Education, CAR Liaison and the Council of State Presidents.

On successful completion of the SAR YPT, you will receive an electronic diploma in PDF format. Forward a copy to: craigandersonsar@gmail.com

Cyber Scams
If you receive an email from a purported Compatriot in need of help that is unsigned, with no personal contact information seeking contributions to any type of fundraising site; or an email addressing you by name from another member of your Chapter requesting the expenditure of funds or the purchase of gift cards, consider it a hoax. These messages are getting more sophisticated and may even include the unauthorized use of the SAR logo and/or a pseudo SAR email address.
