Greetings Compatriots and Friends,
As we step into November, we are reminded of the sacrifices made by our ancestors during the American Revolutionary War. Their fight for freedom and the rights we cherish today includes one of our most fundamental duties as citizens: voting. As the presidential election approaches, I encourage each of you to make your voices heard. Participating in elections is not just a right but an obligation that has been hard-won through the sacrifices of those who came before us. Let us honor their legacy by actively engaging in the democratic process.
On November 11th, we will observe Veterans Day, a time to reflect on the bravery and commitment of those who have served in our armed forces. I am proud to announce that at our dinner meeting on November 13th, we will honor our veterans, and our guest speaker will be our fellow member and compatriot Col. Thomas "Tom" Carpenter (USAF Ret.). His insights and experiences will surely inspire us as we pay tribute to those who have fought for our freedoms.
Let us come together this month, both to remember our past and to engage in our present. I look forward to seeing all of you at the meeting as we honor our veterans and prepare to exercise our rights as citizens.
Thank you for all that you have done, and all that you will do.
In patriotism and fellowship,
Jon Wroten, President
SAR Sacramento Chapter

We are rapidly approaching the 250th anniversary of the ratification of the Declaration of Independence on July 4th,2026. Our patriot ancestors left us a legacy and obligation to preserve the freedoms for which they sacrificed; it’s important that SAR members lead our community in the celebration of this event. Our color guard is the face of the SAR in our community and will play a major role in this celebration.
As our long time CG members age out it’s imperative that we recruit new members. Please join us and participate in community patriotic events. You do not have to be a SAR member to join our color guard – only an interest in history and a desire to help celebrate our heritage. Young people are encouraged to join us; if you have grandchildren/ great grandchildren or other young friends and relatives who are interested in American History and would like to participate in patriotic events in our community, our Chapter Color Guard is looking for recruits. The National Society SAR last year authorized a Youth Color Guard Medal to be awarded to those under 18 years old; you do not have to be a SAR member to earn this award.
For more information, contact David Beach, Russ Kaiser, or any color guard member; we would be delighted to help you!

Cyber Scams
If you receive an email from a purported Compatriot in need of help that is unsigned, with no personal contact information seeking contributions to any type of fundraising site; or an email addressing you by name from another member of your Chapter requesting the expenditure of funds or the purchase of gift cards, consider it a hoax. These messages are getting more sophisticated and may even include the unauthorized use of the SAR logo and/or a pseudo SAR email address.
