January 2024

Greeting Compatriots and Friends,

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I hope this finds you well, and everyone had a wonderful holiday season with family, friends and loved ones.

We are in the midst of exciting times for our Chapter and the SAR. A couple of weeks ago, marked the 250th anniversary of the Boston Tea Party and a series of events leading our ancestors into what would become the American Revolutionary War and the birth of our nation.

On the 16th, members of our Chapter participated in the annual Wreaths Across

America event with members of the DAR. Our color guard was a visually proud.

tribute to our Revolutionary War ancestors and did an excellent job representing.

the SAR and our Chapter.

This past year seems to have flown by. Reflecting on the involvement and

accomplishments of our Chapter’s membership, everyone can be proud to

belong to, and support such an outstanding organization with a meaningful and

valuable mission. The Sacramento Chapter has been fulfilling our mission by

promoting patriotism, serving our community, and educating and inspiring future generations about the founding principles of our Country for more than 101 Years since 1922

As we look to the future, I am filled with hope that together we will continue the important and valuable service and programs the Sacramento Chapter is known for. I also look forward to coming together in fellowship and service toward our common goals. Your talents, commitment and active involvement are needed to build on the legacy our fellow compatriots have achieved over the past 101 years.

Thank you for all that you have done, and all that you will do. Let’s make 2024 a great year for the Sacramento Chapter of the SAR.

Sacramento Chapter's 1776 Book Challenge is Underway.

The 250th Anniversary of the Declaration of Independence is just around the corner - July 4th, 2026. Our goal is to provide at least 1776 books to classrooms written for 5th grade students that inspire patriotism and a love of our American Heritage. Each teacher will receive a classroom set of books that can be used for years to come.

Teachers participating in the program will make these books available to their students and encourage them to read and report out on what they have read. Where possible, teachers can select the books that they want for their classrooms.
