March 2024

Greeting Compatriots and Friends,

We have all inherited a very special gift and honor from our ancestors, and we didn’t have to do anything to earn it. As members of the SAR, we can enjoy the honor and benefits just by being descendants of our patriot ancestors, and the fight and sacrifices they made to give us freedom and our wonderful country.

But this begs the question, do we have a duty or responsibility to follow in their footsteps and earn this honor. I believe we do. For me personally, like many of you, I actively give back and volunteer to promote causes I believe in. One of these causes is the Sons of the American Revolution.

I strongly believe in our shared mission and values which states we “honor our Revolutionary War patriot ancestors by promoting patriotism, serving our communities, and educating and inspiring future generations about the founding principles of our Country.

I hope everyone will join me in volunteering and contributing just a couple of hours each month to our chapter and its programs and outreach in the community.

We hope to see everyone at the March 13th chapter dinner meeting. We have an excellent speaker for the evening, and it is a great way to connect with both old friends, and to meet new friends.

Thank you for all that you have done, and all that you will do. Let’s make 2024 a great year for the Sacramento Chapter of the SAR. We can only do this with YOU.

In Fellowship,

Jon Wroten, President

“Patriotism - History – Education”

Sacramento Chapter's 1776 Book Challenge is Underway.

The 250th Anniversary of the Declaration of Independence is just around the corner - July 4th, 2026. Our goal is to provide at least 1776 books to classrooms written for 5th grade students that inspire patriotism and a love of our American Heritage. Each teacher will receive a classroom set of books that can be used for years to come.

Teachers participating in the program will make these books available to their students and encourage them to read and report out on what they have read. Where possible, teachers can select the books that they want for their classrooms.

Please Consider Donating

You Make a Difference in our Community

Join the 1776 Book Challenge by donating funds that will enable us to purchase books for this program. For each $10 donated, we will place a book plate with your name or your business name in each book.

Donors may elect to sponsor 1 or more 5th grade classrooms with a donation of $350 each by specifying the teacher's name and school.
