July 2022

A message to the members….

Welcome to July and summer! Even though we are “dark” for June and July, we have still been active. Thank you to those that participated in the Folsom and Carmichael parades. It was great to parade again after several years of no marching. Both parades were well attended with the sides packed with spectators. It should be noted that we had 5 SAR (Beach, Faulkinbury, Littlefield, Ahlberg, Kaiser) in the Folsom Parade and only 3 (Drake, Littlefield, Kaiser) in the Carmichael parade. It wasn’t too long ago our ranks would have been closer to 30 participants!
This brings me to the point: we need more participation! We need committee members and chairs. We need Executive Board members and Color Guardsman. Most importantly, we need YOU!
For August, we have an “ALL HANDS-ON DECK!” planning meeting at Cattlemen’s, Rancho Cordova, on Saturday, August 20, 2022, from 10 AM to Noon, with doors open at 9:30 AM. This is an annual meeting where we plan out next year’s activities along with potential leaders and committee members. Some discussion about the rest of 2022 will be had as well. We are also starting to plan for 2026 which is our countries 250th anniversary. This is the opportunity for you to speak out and speak up. Please mark your calendars for this all-important date.
A new opportunity to participate in an education program has arisen. We have been contacted by a Senior Living facility for a request for programs. The first will be August 1st. There will be more. If you would like to attend and perhaps setup/take down or present, please contact me.
We have some members that are recovering from various injuries and ailments. Just a few are Craig Anderson, Ernie Garcia and Carl Ahlberg to name a few. Don Littlefield seems to have trouble staying on his bike, but one would think the guy is made of rubber! And still, he marched in both parades. If I missed anyone, please let me know.
Hope to see you all next month.
