May 2022

Greetings Compatriots & Friends

Spring Has Sprung! I do hope you are enjoying another beautiful Spring Day here in the Sacramento Valley. Let’s be honest our weather & our sunshine are hard to beat.

The CASSAR 147th Annual Meeting has come and gone and was a tremendous success. A special congratulations to our new state president Craig Anderson. I know Craig will do a great job. Also, a special thank you to all the people who stepped up in my absence. Unfortunately, I came down with a stomach virus at the last minute that prevented me from attending.

A special Happy Mother’s Day to all the wonderful ladies out there who will be reading this newsletter. More telephone calls are made on Mother’s Day than any other day of the year, more flowers are bought on Mother’s Day than any other day of the year, and fewer crimes are committed on Mother’s Day than any other day. Moms are SPECIAL let’s make sure we honor them in the right way.

Finally, I wanted to give you a heads up that I will be resigning as your chapter president effective May 2022. After much prayer and conversation my wife and I have decided to both retire and move to Texas where we can be closer to family. The executive committee team has been working behind the scenes for my replacement and I know there are many of you who would make an excellent leader for this chapter. In addition to the office of president we are still searching for someone to serve as vice-president. If you have an interest in either position, please contact me on my cell phone at (916) 317-7809.

I do hope you are having a great day & I look forward to seeing you soon.

Michael L. Hull - President

Dear Michael,
I am writing to express my sincere appreciation to you and the members of the Sacramento Chapter for hosting the 147th
Please convey my thanks to your entire membership for stepping forward to host the meeting, and the great job making it happen. I know it was a lot of work and want to make sure everyone knows how appreciative Diane and I are of your work and hospitality. The highlight of the weekend was seeing the installation of a new California Society President by the Past President who are both from the Sacramento Chapter. You should all be very proud!

If you didn’t attend the 147th annual meeting of the California Society hosted by the Sacramento Chapter, here’s what you missed!

A brief, energetic business meeting that heard officer and chapter reports from all over CA highlighting the great work done in our communities all around the state. The state society voted to increase the life member dues remittance from $10 per year to $15 per year to be more in line with current chapter dues.

An outstanding public service award luncheon honoring four officers from the Woodland California Police Department for saving a woman’s life in November 2021.

An exceptional youths award luncheon that featured the Young American Patriots (YAPS) Drum and Fife Band from Dublin, CA. who played a series of lively colonial period tunes that was extremely inspiring and entertaining. Awards were presented to the outstanding Sea Cadet, and other state youth program winners were announced; we heard a report from Christopher Franco, the student that the Sacramento Chapter sponsored to attend the Spirit of America Youth Leadership Program at Valley Forge, PA. on how this program has impacted him.

An outstanding Gala Banquet on Saturday evening that feature great food and keynote speaker, David Harmer, president and CEO of Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge. His message was inspiring and underscored the work that our respective organizations have ahead of us, to educate our youths in the values of American citizenship. The CASSAR President’s gavel was passed to Sacramento Chapter member, Craig Anderson.

The success of this event was made possible by the dedication and hard work of: Don and Mary Ann Littlefield, Jim and Karen Faulkinbury, Russ and Donna Kaiser, Del Hanson, Mark Mozdy, Scott Brooks, Larry Brasher, Ernie Garcia, Carl Ahlberg, and Roy Adkins.
This is the winning Sacramento Chapter entry from 211 entries submitted by Sandra J Gallardo Elementary, Oak Chan Elementary, and Green Valley Elementary schools. This entry took third place in the state competition.
