May 2024

Greeting Compatriots and Friends,

May 8th is our Youth Awards Program for the Chapter at our regular dinner meeting with special guests. I remember last year's program which was both moving and inspiring hearing the promise of the future from the perspective of our youth. We are all contributing to creating a better future through the activities of the SAR. Please mark your calendars and plan on coming out to recognize these incredible youth awardees. Details are on our chapter website located at https://sar-sacramento.org.

This is on the heels of our very own Chapter member and compatriot, Don Littlefield being installed of the President for the California Society of the SAR. Another great reason to join us for dinner next week on the 8th to congratulate Don, shake his hand, and share your ideas for the future of the SAR both in Sacramento and California.

Just shy of a couple of weeks ago on April 19th marks the 249th anniversary of the Shot Heard Around the World marking the first battles of the American Revolution at Lexington and Concord. We are quickly entering the 250th anniversary of our independence and birth of our nation. I personally take great pride in knowing my ancestors contributed and played an important role in the historic event. I encourage each of you to contemplate what this means to you. Breaking bread with you fellow compatriots and sharing these feelings is a wonderful way to honor the memories of your ancestors. Again, we hope to see you at dinner next week on the 8th of May.

Thank you for all that you have done, and all that you will do. Let’s make 2024 a great year for the Sacramento Chapter of the SAR. We can only do this with YOU.

In Fellowship,

Jon Wroten, President
