Have a great summer!
March 14, 2018
Dear ,

It has finally arrived! The Sacred Heart Corned Beef Dinner and Legacy Raffle Drawing is this Sunday, March 18th. The support for this event has been overwhelming. From the Sacred Heart High School Alumni to current school families, the support of our school and mission truly demonstrates how great of a community we have. As mentioned previously, the Legacy fund is an vital to our school. This year we will use the raised funds to invest in our teachers and technology throughout the school and parish.
Finally, communication between the classroom and home are paramount to a successful school culture. Every other week, Sacred Heart publishes our "Green Envelope." Within this email, one can find several important dates, procedures, and other important information. In order to promote more readership, this and each subsequent Green Envelope will contain a trivia question hidden within the Green Envelope. I am encouraging parents to read the Green Envelope with their students and email me ( ) with the correct answer to the question. Each family that answers the question correctly by Friday will receive a spirit day on the following Monday. If you have any questions about this, please let me know.

Today's Trivia Question is: What famous scientist was born on March 14, 1879?

Thank you and God Bless,
Mr. Yee

With all the talk of school choice, vouchers, education savings accounts, tax credits, etc., it can be difficult for parents to differentiate between the options and what individual states and school districts offer parents. The most recent option added to the mix is the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act law that has added another parental choice with the expansion of 529 savings plans. This month's  parent engagement flyer  is meant to help clarify this additional path for parents to choose schools for their children.

Safe Environment At Sacred Heart School
Each school day, our nation's schools are entrusted to provide a safe and healthy learning environment for approximately 55 million elementary and secondary school students. Lessons learned from school emergencies highlight the importance of preparing school officials and first responders to implement emergency operations plans. By having plans in place to keep students and staff safe, schools play a key role in taking preventative and protective measures to stop an emergency from occurring or reduce the impact of an incident. Although schools are not traditional response organizations, when a school-based emergency occurs, school personnel respond immediately. They provide first aid, notify response partners, and provide instructions before first responders arrive. They also work with their community partners, i.e., governmental organizations that have a responsibility in the school emergency operations plan to provide a cohesive, coordinated response. Community partners include first responders (law enforcement officers, fire officials, and emergency medical services personnel) as well as public and mental health entities. in public and nonpublic schools. Families and communities expect schools to keep their children and youths safe from threats (human-caused emergencies such as crime and violence) and hazards (natural disasters, disease outbreaks, and accidents). In Sacred Heart's continuing effort to maintain as safe school environment we will be doing extra practice drills with the students.
What parents can do to help?
You, as parents, can also help Sacred Heart School maintain a safe environment by always signing in and out of the office when you are in the school, always wear a volunteer or visitor badge while in the school, always follow the directions of a the staff when asked to do so. If you are in the school during a practice drill (fire, tornado, lock down) follow the directions of the staff.  Please always be aware of the outside surrounding area of the school and if you see anything please contact the school office or it need be the Dearborn Police.  When entering the school building, please be aware of anyone behind you and if do not let them in if you do not know them or feel comfortable in letting them in.
