A new way to look at Yoga…as fun-ctional. As we age it becomes even more important to keep the body moving. Being able to get out of a chair, reach up into cupboards, turn easily from left to right, get off the floor… all become vital. Join us for an opportunity to keep or regain the movements that improve the cardiac and lymphatic systems. We have fun as we work to keep the body healthy and strong. Chairs are always available; work at your own pace.

YDURGA PUJA WITH JACQUEE DICKEY, KYLE DESAI AND RASHMITA PATEL

On Friday October 23rd from 7 to 8:30 pm

Come join us for our first Durga Puja, a festival held every year in India dedicated to the goddess Durga. Durga is a symbol of that aspect of God that represents the triumph of good over evil in the world. She is the warrior goddess containing the combined powers of Shiva, Brahma and Vishnu. She is often depicted riding on a fierce lion and possessing many arms each holding a different weapon. In addition she is seen as the great protector and Mother of the Universe

The puja consists of wonderful drumming to awaken the Divine Consciousness in the image, purification of the 5 elements in us, the blessing of the Goddess with a lighted lamp, the musical taal to dispel negative energy, a procession to submerge the image in the pond as she returns to her celestial home and prasad (food blesssed by the deity.)

SUNDAY CIRCLE OF SILENCE

From 11 to noon

Do you feel stressed and unable to find time to just Be? Do you find it difficult to meditate at home with so many distractions? Come join us on Sunday mornings. According to the great mystic Meister Eckhart: “Wherever this Word (of God) is to be heard, it must occur in stillness and Silence. We cannot be of greater service to this Word than through stillness and silence. There we can hear and understand it correctly.” Sermon 18.

We will begin the hour with 20 minutes of silent meditation. We will then do a 5 minute silent walking meditation followed by another 20 minutes of silence.
