The Passing of Arab Community Leader Miriam Zayed
 
 The AAAN offers its sincerest condolences to the family and community of one of our dearest friends and supporters, Miriam Zayed, who passed away last night. She was a leader for decades of the Beitunia (village near Ramallah in occupied Palestine) Club of Chicago and the Arab American Democratic Club, as well as a local representative of DC's Arab American Institute.
 
Miriam was a powerful force of nature who loved her people and her community, and she will be greatly missed.   
 
The funeral and burial information for today, Wednesday, October 24th, from the Beitunia Club:
 
"Condolences on the passing of Miriam Khalil Zayed, wife of Rifat Zayed, mother of Khawla, Belal, Haithem and Lena. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and teacher. She was a pillar of the community as well as a pioneer in everything she did.
 
Wake Wednesday morning, October 24th, from 10 AM to Noon at Hann Funeral Home, 8230 S. Harlem Ave., in Bridgeview, IL.
 
Funeral prayer immediately thereafter at the Mosque Foundation, 7360 W. 93rd St., also in Bridgeview.
 
The funeral procession will then continue to the burial at Mt. Vernon Cemetery, 11875 Archer Ave., in Lemont,  IL."
