Dear Baker Families,

I am devastated to have to let you know that a beloved member of the Baker community, Mike Rampey, has passed away suddenly. Mike went into the hospital with acute stomach pain and ultimately went into cardiac arrest early this morning.

Mike’s immediate family is all at Baker - Tiffany currently teaches kindergarten, Paige is in second grade and August is in preschool. Given Tiffany’s role as the current kindergarten teacher and fourth grade teacher in year’s past, I know there are students in every grade at Baker who have a connection to their family.

Mike was an unforgettable presence - a man of faith, devoted husband, father, and son, and the life of the party whether it was playing soccer, playing music or walking through the halls of Baker. He filled our community with his very own light and joy. We will miss his infectious spirit, his joyful smile, and his uplifting presence.

As parents, we all struggle with how to talk to our children about grief and loss, especially when we are impacted by it as well. Barr-Harris Children’s Grief Center is a local agency that is well-respected in the area of child grief. They provide guidance that you may find helpful on how to talk to children about death.

I am so sorry to have to share this with you,
Carly Andrews
Head of School

The days and months to come will allow for grieving and supporting the Rampey family.

Details will be coming in the days ahead about how we can best support Tiffany, Paige and August.
