STAR Fund allocates $30,000 to build Stanley Assisted Living Facility
Rosen Place on 8th Assisted Living Facility will be added onto Mountrail Bethel Home. The facility will offer 14 units.
Williston Economic Development - The Williston City Commisson has approved up to $60,000 from the Williston STAR Fund for three projects. The commission allocated up to $10,000 to the Williston Volunteer Fire Department, up to $20,000 for exterior improvements at a business in Downtown Williston and up to $30,000 to help build an assisted living facility at Mountrail Bethel Home (MBH). The commission approved the allocations at its meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 25.  The Mountrail County Health Foundation (MCHF) will utilize its $30,000 Community Build Grant for constructing an assisted living addition to Mountrail Bethel Home. The project is the third and final phase of a three-phased capital campaign spearheaded by MCHF five years ago.

City of Williston to operate DMV in Fall of 2019

Williston Herald - The city of Williston is going to take over running the local Department of Motor Vehicles branch. Williston State College currently holds the franchise for the Williston branch of the DMV, but as City Administrator David Tuan explained to the commission at Tuesday's meeting, the college is looking to discontinue its involvement beginning in October 2019.  Read More
Williston, Dickinson lead Increase in August Enplanements
 
West Fargo Pioneer - The North Dakota Aeronautics Commission this month released boarding data for each airport in the state. North Dakota has seen a cumulative growth of 4 percent In North Dakota, comparing January to August of 2017 to that same time period this year. Kyle Wanner, director of the commission, described this growth as a sign of a good economy. "Airline boardings can be a key indicator of economic growth," he said. Grand Forks International Airport saw a boardings drop of almost 4 percent from 2017 to 2018, a loss of almost 3,000.  Read More
Nuverra partners with McKenzie County Public School District to train Future Truck Drivers
Nuverra is partnering with the McKenzie County Public School District through the skills initiative program to train future CDL drivers.
Williston Herald -  It takes a village to hire workers in North Dakota, and a Watford City company is showing what that looks like. Nuverra 
has recently established a community partnership with the McKenzie County Public School District's skills initiative, to augment its existing 12-week driver training class at the high school. The initiative aims to boost awareness of the high-paying, quality jobs in North Dakota, many of which only require a two-year associate's degree or less. Read More

Sidney Herald - A new business has opened at the Shops at Fox Run in Sidney. Sidney Nails opened its doors on Sept. 8. The new salon has 12 pedicure chairs including four for young girls and multiple stations for manicures. Sidney Nails is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m.
CHI Breast Cancer Style Show Oct. 6
Roundup - CHI St. Alexius Health Williston Foundation will hold a Breast Cancer Awareness Fashion Show Oct. 6 from 5-7 p.m. at the Skadland Gym at Williston State College. 
The fashion show will showcase Williston's community resources for the treatment and support of a breast cancer diagnosis. The fashion show will feature breast cancer survivors as models. The event is a celebration of their stories, successes and support. Read More
Model Cleaners accepting Winter Gear for Coats for Kids Campaign

News Release - The annual Coats for Kids campaign is underway in Williston. Bring new and gently used coats and winter gear to Model Drive-In Cleaners before the Oct. 30 deadline. The gear will be professionally cleaned by Model and distributed to families and individuals in need at the Salvation Army located on Main Street.

Help clean up Williston from 8:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. Supplies and refreshments will be available at Davidson Park. There will also be roll-offs for used tires (four maximum), metals and other materials. Help keep Williston clean and pick up up trash in your neighborhood, business, boulevards and parks.

10/03 ------ 1 Million Cups Williston
The owners of startups will share their business strategies at 8:30 a.m. at the Teton Lounge on the Williston State College campus.

10/04 ------ Women in Leadership Expo

10/4 ------ Mountrail Williams Electric Cooperative Open House

10/06 ------ Lewis & Clark Big 10 Showdown
A new walleye tournament to be held at Lewis & Clark State Park. The tournament may accommodate up to 100 teams and comes with a guaranteed first place prize of $10,000.
