Diversity Flight Series | Bootleggers Brewing Company
The series is an awareness and fundraising campaign in response to the outcry for help following George Floyd's wrongful death and strives to partner with community members and organizations that are working to be a part of the change that needs to
happen against injustices within this country.
Through the help of the
Beer Table, a community group established by the Bootleggers Brewing Company, they were inspired to create the Diversity Flight Series as a result of Safe & Sound Hillsborough's goal of "offering a structure to unite the efforts of those involved in criminal justice, economic development, education, community building and health." Recognizing that it takes a diverse group of people and professions to foster positive change that can benefit the community as a whole, they are using their skills and resources to support social justice causes.
The Diversity Flight Series release will last throughout this weekend,
July 30 - August 2, as a canned option and proceeds will be donated to Safe & Sound Hillsborough.

Detention Advisory Board | Programming & Facility Improvements
Since the inception of the
Detention Advisory Board in 2018, monthly meetings with the staff have resulted in numerous projects to benefit the
Hillsborough West Juvenile Detention Center and its aging facility. Under the leadership of Freddy Barton, serving as the chair of the board, improvements from this
collaboration include: establishing
improved educational programming, identifying mentoring resources and opportunities to prevent recidivism, implementing activities to enhance physical and mental health, painting of the facility, perimeter clean up, external greenery beautification and an important partnership with the
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
through their social justice initiative. As a result, players and staff visited the center to spend time with the youth, have meaningful dialog, and interact in fun activities.
This partnership has also provided much needed resources for the youth, a remodeled learning lab sponsored by the
Tampa Bay Buccaneers Foundation
, and appreciation dinners for the staff.

Progress in Partnership | Tampa Bay Buccaneers
2020-2021 Social Justice Initiative
Safe & Sound Hillsborough is pleased to continue our partnership with the
Tampa Bay Buccaneers and their year-round
Social Justice Initiative. Established in 2018, The Social Justice Player Board, is a group of Buccaneers players committed to leading the
team's Social Justice Initiative and spearheads important conversation, programming and team engagement in social justice causes throughout the Tampa Bay community and the National Football League.
In 2020-2021, Safe & Sound Hillsborough will partner to coordinate a new social justice campaign to include a PSA on equity and player supported voter awareness drives. In addition, the initiative will implement a Youth Mentorship partnership with the
Hillsborough County Public School District where Safe & Sound Hillsborough will coordinate training for mentors, program design and an outcome matrix for middle school students.
