One of the recipients of DLMD's Property Improvement Grant, High Knoll Wealth Advisors, LLC, recently purchased this building on West Short Street (formerly the Calvert Building) and has begun complete renovations.

High Knoll Wealth was awarded a $7,500 matching grant which has been used to replace windows and rotted trim and framing, the addition of updated, illuminated signage, removal of the outdated awning, repainting, and the addition of a beautiful 200 sq. ft. mural on a previously unpainted exterior wall.

The grant is subject to committee approval and is a 50% match up to $10,000! If you are a business owner located within the District and are interested in applying, you can email Terry@downtownlex.com for more information.

Downtown Ambassador Spotlight
Not only do our Ambassadors serve as the friendly face of our downtown efforts, but they also maintain cleanliness and safety throughout the District.

Read below for a quote from a District resident.
"The Downtown Ambassador program has been one of Lexington’s best ideas ever!! Prior to the program, I remember thinking to myself, what must visitors to Lexington think of all the litter and poor sidewalks in downtown Lexington?

Lexington solved the litter problem in a big way. When the program first started and the purple uniforms stood out, I made a point of thanking individuals for being Ambassadors. Their hospitality has truly made them Ambassadors for downtown.

I want to give huge praise to my personal favorite, Rodney Lee. I can usually catch Rodney near my building and without fail, have a great conversation on my way to the office early in the morning.
Rodney Lee - DLMD Ambassador
He always has something positive to talk about and he’s such a faithful Ambassador. Our Ambassadors are really good for our downtown and they do a terrific job!"

The District
The Downtown Lexington Management District is a property tax improvement district responsible for improving the downtown area. It puts tax dollars to work to enhance downtown through beautification and safety. The goal of the District is to foster economic growth, renew interest in the area by businesses, residents, and visitors, and ultimately increase property values. You can find the DLMD ambassadors in purple polos working to improve the downtown area every day to create a Safe Clean Beautiful Lexington.

As you may be aware the Downtown Lexington Management District (DLMD) has been implementing improvements since May 2015. We want to thank you for your support, tell you about some of the District's accomplishments, and make you aware of some changes that will enhance the District even more.

Beginning February 2017 Downtown Lexington Partnership (DLP) was contracted to begin managing the district on an interim basis. DLP is a membership-based organization working to promote Downtown as a unique and vibrant place in Lexington for business, residential life and entertainment.

If you have any questions, concerns, comments or ideas we want to hear them! The DLMD administrative office is located at 333 W. Vine St., Suite 1700, and can be reached at (859) 335-8640 or by email at info@dlex.town.
