The SWE Alliance under the aegis of Project SEWAH- Sustainable Enterprises of Water Health, an alliance between USAID and Safe Water Network, supported by Pepsico and Pentair hosted a series of online panel discussions, water talks, and launched knowledge materials amidst global restrictions on movement. On April 22, 2021, on the occasion of Earth Day 2021, the SWE Implementers held the second panel discussion on Sustenance, Sustainability, and Safe Water where the panelists discussed how can the safe water sector be stimulated for the sake of revenue, sustainability, and survival?
SEWAH Partners came together and celebrated the event at WKRCs with a myriad of plantation drives, campaigns, activities, and awareness generation programs. SWE Partners including Drinkwell Systems, JanaJal, WaterHealth, Waterlife conducted activities such as drawing and poster-making competitions for the children in the communities to create WASH awareness. Drinkwell conducted a community event where children attired in traditional costumes raised awareness about ”Restore Our Earth”. WaterHealth, Waterlife, and Safe Water Network India ran campaigns around Covid-19 and its safety norms. The teams distributed hygiene kits, masks, and food packets to the consumers, especially to the underprivileged sections of the society to help them keep safe from the deadly pandemic.
SWE Partner Maithri Aquatech launched a Water Courtesy Card Program for marginalized communities, municipal workers, and hawkers. The card will give people access to the WKRC Water ATM’s clean, mineral-enriched water at a very affordable cost of ₹1 per liter per day
This year the SWE Alliance started its series of Clean Water Talks titled 'Pani per Charcha'. The first water talk in this series titled 'Water on Wheels (WOW)' was delivered by Dr. Parag Agarwal on June 15th 2021. WOW is a unique concept where a mobile Water ATM mounted on a battery-operated e-vehicle ensures last-mile delivery of safe and affordable water in rural and urban areas.
The second water talk in the 'Pani pe Charcha' clean water talk series was held on June 29 titled 'Consumer Convenience Distribution of Water'. WKRC partner Maitri Aquatech hosted a webinar titled 'Investing in Safe Water is Investing in a Country's Future' in association with Project SEWAH.
