Safe and Sound is the SPFGA's safety and facility-related system message broadcast.
Reopening is just around the bend...
We wanted to share our plan for the Ketchamoot Creek facility reopening schedule with you.

We're planning on opening in phases, timed in sync with the stages of the province's relaunch strategy. Our goal is to start on Monday, May 18.

Holding us up from opening sooner is the extremely poor state of the road on the property as a result of the work installing the new security system in the fall. Spring road bans have complicated this and the recent rains, while very much welcome, have made things boggy.

So, we're just going to have to roll with this the best we can. The dates below are forecasts at this point, dependent on favourable weather.
Phase 1: Targeting Monday, May 18
Ketchamoot Creek facility partial reopening
  • Campground open for use; odd-numbered sites will be opened, even numbered sites blocked off. Members in a site must be from the same household
  • Walking trails open for use
  • Fish pond open for use
  • Black powder trail open for use
  • Firearm and archery ranges open on specified days/times with a reservation system and volunteer supervision (details to follow) to ensure compliance with 15 person limit; closed outside these times
  • Some league events & courses restart

Keep in mind:
  • 2 m (6') physical distancing mandatory
  • Limit of number of people in an area is 15
  • No guests allowed on property, members only
  • Regular use of hand sanitizer (member supplied) is mandatory
  • Regular disinfection of high-touch surfaces is recommended (club supplied on ranges; member supplied elsewhere)
  • The use of a mask covering the mouth and nose in common spaces (range sheds, outhouses, etc.) is mandatory; in other locations is recommended
  • Clubhouse remains closed
Phase 2: Date TBD (pending outcome of Stage 2 of provincial relaunch plan)
Range times broaden
  • Weekends: firearms and archery ranges open on specified days/times with a reservation system and volunteer supervision; will be locked outside these times
  • Weekdays: drop-in range use permitted; close monitoring of site volume, with restrictions being returned if necessary
  • Leagues and events resume a more normal schedule
