Annual Safety Awards
It's nomination time!
Safety Day is quickly approaching, and we need your help!
If you have a recommendation for someone you believe should be nominated for the Annual Safety Award, please tell your supervisor. Recommendations must be received by Tuesday, May 3, 2022.
Last year's Safety Award recipient, Dan Webster, with (from l to r) John Casella II, Joe Matteri, and Joseph Casella.
Safety is very important at Casella Construction, and we want to make sure those who prioritize safety are recognized for their efforts.
Any contribution is appreciated. Thank you for your help!
New This Year:
Equipment & Truck Rodeo!
Following Safety Day presentations, join us for a family BBQ - and enjoy our first EQUIPMENT & TRUCK RODEO!
We will have obstacle courses set up for our operators and drivers to navigate through, where they can show off their skills and compete in timed/skill-focused events.
Check out CAT's version of this to get an idea of what to expect:
Who do you want to see compete in the Equipment & Truck Rodeo?
Start thinking about who should participate in the rodeo! In next week's newsletter, you'll get to learn about the obstacle challenges, and then nominate the drivers and operators you want to see compete!
And One For the Kids!
We'll also have obstacle courses for the kids to participate in! They'll have fun operating remote-controlled equipment in special challenges. Trophies will be awarded to the winners!
Stay tuned for more details next week!
We are hiring for 2022!
Don't forget about our Employee Referral Bonus program!
If someone you recommend is hired and stays with us at least 90 days, we will thank you with a referral bonus in your check!

Do you know someone who would make a good addition to our team?

Safety Topic
Pinch Points
Pinch point hazards are not always easily identified on a construction site. You must be aware of everything that could potentially put you at risk for an injury.
Some common places on a job site for pinch point injuries can include:
  • A pair of pliers
  • Excavator
  • Concrete blocks
  • Unsecured materials
  • Chains and pipes
  • Machinery
  • Truck Doors
Can you answer the question from this week's safety discussion?
What are some safety controls you can practice to avoid pinch point injuries?
Only turn away from a machine that is on or coasting if you are sure it is safe
Wear the proper gloves and PPE for jobs where you could get injured
Look for shortcuts to be more efficient
