Safety First Reminder
We urge all drivers, bikers, and pedestrians in Bonita Bay to put safety first.
What can YOU do to improve safety?
-
Drive Safely - Please observe all speed limits and crosswalks.
-
Observe the Flashing Signals - Drivers should stop and allow pedestrians to cross when the flashing beacons are activated.
-
Stop at each stop sign. No running or rolling through. Stop means STOP for both drivers and bicycles.
-
Yield - Drivers in Florida must yield the right-of-way in crosswalks to pedestrians and bicycles.
-
Share the Road - Drivers must give bicyclists a minimum of 3 feet of clearance when driving alongside or passing. Yield to bicycles when turning and wait until 3 feet of clearance is available.
-
Pathway Speed Limit - The speed limit on pathways is 8 mph. Faster bikes, e-bikes, or scooters should use the road.
-
Pathways - Bicycles on a pathway must yield the right of way to pedestrians and give an audible signal (verbal or bike bell) before overtaking and passing pedestrians.
-
Be Aware - Pedestrians and runners on pathways should pay attention to their surroundings, especially when using headphones, ear pods, or cell phones.
-
Bike Safety - Using ear pods and cell phones are strongly discouraged for bike riders.
-
Golf Carts should stop and look when crossing roads and entrances to neighborhoods and be used solely on golf cart pathways, not the roads.
-
Use Extra Caution when passing large trucks and in construction zones.
We urge everyone in Bonita Bay to slow down and enjoy the natural beauty all around you.
Thank you.
