Dexter-Russell

Southbridge, MA

Family-owned and American-made since 1818! Manufacturer of Professional Cutlery with 250 Employees

What makes Dexter unique? They are always looking to innovate! Not only with new products and lines of business, but with keeping their team safe. Safety Trainers has been working with Greg Majewski, Director of Safety & Facilities and his team for over 7 years on building and maintaining safety protocols.

Why is this important? A focus on safety has allowed Dexter to earn and A+ insurance rating from their Risk/Casualty Insurance Company. This helps them save money which can, instead, be reinvested into the employees and the business.

How does Dexter tackle Safety? They have a 3-Tiered approach: Shift Supervisors, Managers, & the Executive Team working together. In addition, they have formed a Safety Team and engaged them in training.

What resources have helped them keep Safety in the forefront? Dexter has accessed grant funds through the Express Grant, Workforce Training and the Department of Industrial Accidents (DIA) to offer extensive training to their team members, on all levels.
