SISD to Celebrate Month of the Young Child and Head Start's 50th Anniversary in April

April is Month of the Young Child and an additional reason to celebrate this year is that it is also the 50th anniversary of SISD Head Start. SISD received detailed plans from the Early Childhood Celebration Committee. They are leading and coordinating several activities for SISD for the month of April as follows:

  • Early Childhood fun facts will be posted at all Saginaw ISD buildings accompanied with child artwork. Several early childhood businesses will also be posting Early Childhood fun facts and artwork.
  • T-shirts will be available for all Saginaw ISD staff, highlighting both Month of the Young Child and Head Start's 50th anniversary. Head Start children and staff will receive free t-shirts. All other ISD staff can order t-shirts from Brad Gomoluch.
  • Each site will present a "Gallery Art Walk," highlighting artwork of that site during April's Parent Clubs. Gallery Walks include children's art displayed via frames, mattes, etc. Please visit this site for ideas on displaying children's art. Early Head Start will provide a Gallery Walk for Transitions Center while Birth-5, HFA, and MI-APPP will prepare a display for the RESC.
  • All programs will have fun themes each week to celebrate young children and the 50 years that Head Start has contributed to the Saginaw County Community. Classes may carry-out themes in any way they desire. Themes may be found here.

Many thanks to the planning group for implementing activities that all may participate in to show support of young children.
