Glendale City Council Meeting Information Next Council Meeting: August 24, 2021 Workshop: 2:30 p.m. Voting Meeting: 5:30 p.m. Click for Meeting Agendas Watch Council Meetings Live on the City's Facebook, YouTube, or on Glendale Channel 11 ‌ ‌ Dear Sahuaro Residents, During City Council Workshop this week, Council provided consensus to move forward on two annexation requests. The first is at the corner of Glendale Avenue and Reems Road and consists of a 74 acre parcel that is proposed to have a 1.1 million sq.ft. industrial building development. The second request is for a 104 acre parcel located at Northern Avenue and Reems Road, for a proposed 1.6 million sq. ft. industrial building complex. Council also provided consensus to move forward a study on using our bus stops and buses to generate advertising income. The income from this source would be used to improve bus stops in Glendale. In addition, Council moved the proposed 3.7% water and sewer rate increase to next steps.  The Council will vote on this proposed increase in October 2021. Also during Workshop, the Council provided consensus to move forward on regulations regarding desert landscaping. The main provision of this new ordinance would require owners of property to minimize non-desert plants from growing in their front yard rock landscaped areas.  During the regular City Council voting meeting, the Council approved a 197 unit one-story detached residential development at the southeast corner of 51st Avenue and Peoria Road. In addition, Council approved a multi-residence development at the northeast corner of 67th Avenue and Greenway Road. This project will consist of 182 units on 9.4 acres. The Council also approved changes to the vehicle noise ordinance, making it easier for police to cite for excessive vehicle noise with amendments to escalate the penalty for repeat offenders. The date has been set! The City of Glendale Public Facilities, Recreation & Special Events Department is excited to invite you to participate in our October 2, 2021 Touch-a-Truck event held at the Westgate Entertainment Center.    Location: Lot 4 at Westgate Entertainment Center, located at the Loop 101 and Glendale Ave. Date: October 2, 2021   Time: Event time 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.   The Touch-a-Truck event continues to be a favorite among the West Valley community. We are recruiting industrial and construction trucks, military vehicles, police and fire department trucks, various buses, tractors and farm equipment, commercial transport trailers, utility towing vehicles and much more!   As always, we want to make this event fun for all ages and your organization can help us accomplish this. We ask that the event guests, if possible, explore all your vehicle has to offer by touching it, exploring the inside, honking the horn (a kids favorite!), and interact with drivers and operators. Streets between Paradise Lane and Bell Road, between 63rd Avenue and 67th Avenue – Crack sealing is currently taking place to prepare for a Fractured Aggregate Surface Treatment (FAST) and Latex Modified Surface Seal (LMSS) later this year.
