Sahuaro District Weekly Update

Dear Sahuaro Residents,

This week during Council Workshop, the City Council provided consensus to move forward on Draft A of the Council District redistricting maps. This draft has the least impact on the districts, and makes a minor adjustment to the northeastern and southern boundaries of the Sahuaro District.

We also had a presentation on the fund balance for capital projects which includes an additional $5 million for pavement management, $5 million for community center improvements, $2.4 million for Sahuaro Ranch Park improvements, $1.9 million for the recreation and aquatics center improvements, $1.25 million for Hero’s Park, and $1.2 million for park restrooms upgrades. Most of these projects are well underway or are completed.

In addition, there was a presentation on our airport capital funding projects. The airport manager is taking an aggressive approach to upgrade the Glendale airport and modernize the facility. Over the next 3 years over $9 million will be invested in airport pavements, equipment, etc. Nearly all these funds come from the Federal Aviation Administration.

Council also provided consensus for an official process to rename a street. The process will consider the concerns of property owners, residents, and the Council in determining whether a street should be renamed.

SRP Encourages Customers to Fall into Cooler Weather by Pampering Their Homes with SRP Efficient Home Rebates

WHAT:

Valley homes took a beating during the intense summer months, so fall is a great time for customers to care for their homes by taking advantage of Salt River Project’s rebates and discounts that make homes more comfortable, energy efficient and cheaper to heat and cool, year-round.

Customers are encouraged to bundle a wide-range of energy efficiency rebates such as: SRP’s Cool Cash Air Conditioning Rebate, Duct Test and Repair, Insulation Rebate, Shade Screen Rebate and Home Energy Audit. To learn more, visit savewithsrp.com.

To qualify for rebates, customers must work with professional, licensed contractors.

DETAILS:

An efficient air conditioning system replacement can save customers 30 to 50 percent on annual cooling costs.
Shade screen installations can protect a home's interior from sun damage, provide added privacy and cut cooling costs by up to 25 percent.
Sealing air ducts properly can help more than $200 per year.
The Department of Energy estimates that customers can shave 10 to 50 percent off energy bills with proper attic insulation.
