Dear Sahuaro Residents,

Some of our neighborhoods have realized an increase in population of feral cats through the years. Local non-profit organizations, such as the Animal Defense League of Arizona, have been working in communities to trap, neuter, and release these cats to control the growth in population.

Non-profits do important work in our communities related to quality of life issues. Below, I have attached a video to show how Glendale Councilmembers are teaming up with the Animal Defense League of Arizona to help manage the feral cat population locally. See what is already being done and how you can get involved to help benefit your neighborhood.

1897 MANISTEE RANCH

5127 W. NORTHERN AVENUE (enter from the parking lot on 51st Avenue)

Tours are conducted by the Glendale Arizona Historical Society docents from October through May: Noon to 4 pm (last tour starts at 3 pm). Fees: Adults $5, Seniors $4, Veterans $4, Ages 6-16 $1, GAHS MEMBERS FREE. The 2021-2022 tour dates are the 1^st and 3^rd Saturdays of the month on October 2, 16; November 6, 20; December 4, 18; January 15; February 5, 19; March 5, 19, April 2, 16 and May 7.

The Arizona Department of Transportation will be closing the Loop 101 on-ramps at the locations listed below on October 25th and 26th, 2021. The closures are planned to begin at 9:00 PM with the on-ramps re-opening no later than 5:00 AM.

The purpose of these closures is to perform upgrades to the ramp meters at the traffic interchanges. These upgrades will be a part of the ramp adaptive system. The upgraded system will be able to adjust the green time at the ramp meters based on the actual traffic conditions on the freeway.

During these times, traffic will be detoured around the closures. Portable dynamic message signs will be placed to inform motorists of the ramp closures. The work is scheduled at the locations shown below:

10/25/21 9 PM to 5 AM L-101 SB On Ramp at 75^th Ave

10/26/21 9 PM to 5 AM L-101 WB On Ramp at 67^th Ave
