City Commission Highlights

January 20 and February 3 Meetings: Community Update


 Infrastructure & Public Safety

  • Heart of Boynton Drainage Improvement Project: The City is moving forward with the project to reduce flooding in the Heart of Boynton. Phase I design begins soon, funded by a $1.2M FEMA grant. Construction will follow after grant approval for Phase II. Expect improved stormwater systems and enhanced neighborhood resiliency.
  • Sanitary Sewer Improvements: A $659,521 contract was awarded for trenchless sewer pipe rehabilitation in neighborhoods including Chapel Hill, San Castle, and Brighton Lakes. Work starts shortly and may cause minor traffic impacts.
  • Water System Upgrade: A $375,000 state grant will fund replacement of aging water mains in Bent Tree Villas East and Lime Tree Condominiums using trenchless technology, minimizing disruption and improving reliability.
  • School Zone Safety: The City renewed its agreement for automated speed enforcement in school zones. Cameras remain active to protect children and reduce speeding.


Community Development

  • Affordable Housing: The Pulte Cottage District project will bring 19 single-family homes and 22 townhomes, all designated workforce housing, to the Heart of Boynton. A pocket park and roadway improvements are included.
  • Josie’s Restaurant Relocation: A local eatery is moving to 3047 N Federal Hwy with a new building and outdoor seating, supporting corridor revitalization and local jobs.
  • High Ridge Country Club Rezoning: 64.54 acres rezoned to Recreation to allow golf course expansion while preserving environmentally sensitive lands.


Business & Economic Growth

  • Small Business Grants: Eleven local businesses received grants totaling $100,000 to support rent, equipment, and improvements, boosting economic vitality.



Annexation

  • Bamboo Lane Enclave: The City approved annexation of a 4.61-acre enclave, improving service efficiency and aligning with long-term growth plans.

Pioneer Canal Park Boat Ramp Closed for Improvements



Starting Monday, February 2, the boat ramp at Pioneer Canal Park will be closed for major upgrades, including ramp reconstruction, resurfacing, and additional parking spaces. The project is expected to take about six months. The playground, tennis courts, and beach volleyball court will remain open during construction.

FREE Police Athletic League Boxing Program


The Boynton Beach Police Athletic League, in partnership with Lights Out Boxing and Fitness, offers a free boxing program for local youth ages 8–18. Children will learn boxing basics, discipline, and teamwork; no experience needed, and all equipment provided. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Healing Arts Festival


We kicked off the year with an unforgettable First Friday @ 5 in Downtown Boynton Beach! Families enjoyed delicious food trucks, live music, and a vibrant community atmosphere. Mayor Rebecca Shelton led a wellness-focused Pilates warm-up at Centennial Park & Amphitheater, setting the tone for health and connection.

Employee Spotlight: Bo Preston


The City of Boynton Beach is proud to celebrate Bo Preston, PGA General Manager at The Links at Boynton Beach, on being named the 2026 PGA of America Patriot Award recipient.


With more than 26 years as a PGA Member, Bo exemplifies patriotism through the game of golf and an unwavering commitment to our nation’s Veterans. Through his leadership of PGA HOPE, Bo has helped create a welcoming golf hub for Veterans across Palm Beach County, positively impacting more than 700 Veterans and their families through instructional programs, leagues, and special events.


From launching the “HOPE Has a Home” Golf League to creating the Valor Cup, Bo’s dedication continues to build camaraderie, support, and opportunity for those who have served. We are grateful for his service, leadership, and the meaningful impact he has made right here in Boynton Beach.

City leaders met with residents at First Presbyterian Church of Boynton Beach to discuss the Pence Park and Seacrest Corridor projects.

Save the Ducklings



The City of Boynton Beach Water Distribution Team recently stepped in to rescue ducklings that had fallen into a storm drain, helping reunite them with their mother. Thanks to their quick thinking and compassion, several ducklings were safely returned.


Please join us in recognizing:

Simon Pierre, Breante Allen, Terrance Sims, Karey Isom Jr., Manuel Hernandez, Grivenot Philemone, and Daniel Avila for representing the City with professionalism and dedication.


MLK Day of Service



The day began with our MLK Day of Service, where volunteers, Mayor Rebecca Shelton, and city staff came together to clean up and beautify a neighborhood in our community. Working side by side, they demonstrated the power of service.

Bull Dogs Day Proclamation



Mayor Rebecca Shelton and Vice Mayor Woodrow Hay has proclaimed January 20, 2026, as Boynton Bulldogs Day in recognition of the Boynton Beach Bulldogs Youth Football League’s historic 2025 season.


Seven Bulldogs teams advanced to the AYFL Super Bowl, three finished undefeated, three brought home Super Bowl titles, and the Bulldogs Cheer Program placed first in the AYFL competition.


Congratulations to the athletes, coaches, families, and volunteers who make this program a source of pride for Boynton Beach.
