Greetings,
Happy New Year & Welcome Back!
The first week back to school is complete. I hope that you had a nice break and enjoyed your time with family and friends. I am so thankful to all of you who thought of me during Christmas and gave me a card, gift, and/or both. You are all so generous -much appreciated!
Here are some highlights to be mindful of this month:
· 1/14 Student Bagel Sale
· 1/17 FACTS turned off
· 1/20 No School (MLK)
· 1/22 Dress Down Day
· 1/24 End of 2nd Quarter
· 1/26 Open House (12n-3p)
· 1/30 Report cards will be sent home via email
· 1/31 Half-Day Special Persons Day (11:00a dismissal)
Catholic Schools Week is Jan. 26th – Jan. 31st. Be sure to see the themes and special fun activities planned for each day. Note, background checks will not be needed this year for Special Persons Day. The only requirement is that the special person must be at least 18 years old. Also, please give the name of your special person to your child’s teacher so we have a list of who will be in the school building that day.
Lunch/Recess volunteers: Please, if you’re available come and help when you can. Note, recess is never dependent on whether we have enough parent volunteers. We will always have recess (outdoor and indoor), we just really appreciate the extra set of eyes and ears.
Go Lions! Lions attire will be allowed on Fridays with the Mass uniform, starting January 17. This will continue while the Lions are in the playoffs.
Finally, we recently began a Jubilee Year in the Catholic Church. A Jubilee Year is a special year of forgiveness and reconciliation, celebrated every 25 years, where the faithful are invited to renew their relationship with God and one another. The Jubilee Year will conclude on January 6, 2026. The theme is "Pilgrims of Hope."
Father in heaven, may the faith you have given us in your son, Jesus Christ, our brother, and the flame of charity enkindled in our hearts by the Holy Spirit, reawaken in us the blessed hope for the coming of your Kingdom. May your grace transform us into tireless cultivators of the seeds of the Gospel. May those seeds transform from within both humanity and the whole cosmos
in the sure expectation of a new heaven and a new earth, when, with the powers of Evil vanquished, your glory will shine eternally.
May the grace of the Jubilee reawaken in us, Pilgrims of Hope, a yearning for the treasures of heaven. May that same grace spread the joy and peace of our Redeemer throughout the earth.
To you our God, eternally blessed,be glory and praise for ever. Amen
God Bless & Go Sailors!
