Saint Andrew's Fall Grant Applications Now Being Accepted through October 15th

The Saint Andrew’s Church Community Grants Program uses the Echo Shop profits to give community outreach grants to Santa Clara County non-profit agencies that support children and adults who are experiencing hunger, homelessness, abuse, physical and/or mental illness and incarceration. The process to determine Fall 2026 grant recipients is now underway and applications will be accepted through October 15th. The ECW grant guidelines and application are available on the Saint Andrew’s Episcopal Church website, www.st-andrews-saratoga.org/giving/the-echo-shop-and-grants. Food is rarely just something to eat; it is often connected to power, identity, and culture. During this four-week class we will gain an understanding of how food and culture have always been intertwined. We’ll look at the humble origins of ancient cuisines and the extravagant banquets of the stately classes. We’ll see how people like chefs, former slaves, or queens can change a cuisine with an invention or idea and more! From the world’s oldest recipe to fast food, we’ll see how food has always been a reflection of civilization itself.

Stealing Art

Theft and Fraud in the Art World (A four-week class)

These scandals from just the last year underscore the murky nature of the art world. During this four-week class we will consider why the art world turns a blind eye to cultural theft and fake artworks. We will look at complex stories about art heists; artists who create fakes; and the dealers, galleries, collectors, and museums who buy, display, and sell looted objects.
