Greetings of peace.
Like everyone else of good will, we at the Shrine are grieved by the death of George Floyd at the hands of the Minneapolis police. The nationwide protests are bringing to light longstanding patterns of systemic racism in our country. Even closer to home, the Church’s treatment of our black Catholic brothers and sisters likewise falls short of the well-known Catholic Social Teaching to be in solidarity with all people. For me, it was thought-provoking that the biggest protests in Boston fell on the Solemnity of Pentecost, the celebration of the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles. This is an opportunity to learn.

Last week, I asked you to help us raise $100,000 by the end of June. I am happy to report that we have raised $26,736 toward our goal. Thank you very much. It is easy to
make a gift
using your credit card. Please consider making yours a recurring gift. You will be automatically charged on the first of the month. This is a very convenient way of giving. Until we resume Masses, a recurring gift will help alleviate some of our financial burden.
The Feast of St. Anthony is Saturday, June 13. As part of the celebration, we have planned an online
Weekend of Giving
June 12-14, to help reach our fundraising goal. A special Mass for the feast day will stream live on Facebook at noon June 13. Please consider making a gift of thanksgiving for a special intention granted through the
intercession
of St. Anthony. He is a beloved saint.
I'm happy to report the friars are all healthy and in good spirits. For 73 years you have helped us live out the Gospel in Boston. With your continued help, and the Holy Spirit’s guidance, we can’t be defeated. Please continue to pray for everyone who has been adversely affected by this ongoing health crisis. Lord, make us an instrument of your peace.
With humble gratitude, I am
