Saint Dominic Parish - Holy Week Schedule 2023

Partners in Faith

The Mass is the most important gift Catholic parents can share with their children. The main article on page one will help parents encourage youngsters to engage with this timeless treasure of our Faith. Remember the acronym, P.R.A.Y. Jesus said, “Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy” (Matthew 5:7). In other words, the more we share God’s mercy with others, the happier we will be. The main article on page two offers three ways to show mercy to others and bring happiness to all. The “Our Father” prayer is a meditation on God’s love and care but also contains a specific instruction about forgiveness. In ParentTalk, a parent shares his child’s perspective on Jesus’ direction this prayer provides.

Summer Uniform begins, Monday, April 3, 2023

*Please note: It is important to keep the current weather in mind. Students are welcome to wear either their winter or summer uniforms. They cannot "mix and match" some winter, some summer uniform items. They must wear either their summer uniform or their winter uniform.

Holy Thursday - Early Dismissal & NO Aftercare

First Holy Communion

First Communion will be held on Saturday, April 29th at 9:00 AM. Please pray for our second graders as they receive the Precious Body of Our Lord Jesus Christ for the very first time. "Lord Jesus Christ, bless the children coming forward to receive Holy Communion for the first time.May this day be the step toward a life-long love of the Eucharist. Give them a hunger for this sacred food so that they turn to you for comfort, guidance, and wisdom as they grow into full discipleship.Thank you for their innocence and goodness. May their hands, extended in anticipation of your body and blood, inspire all of us to cherish this sacred Sacrament. Amen."

Renaissance Star 360 Assessments

The third, and final, window of Renaissance Star 360 testing is scheduled for April 24, 2023, through May 12, 2023. Students in grades 2-8 will each complete a 20 minute online assessment in Reading and Math. Results will be sent home when all testing has been completed.

St. Dominic School Students Win Brick Elks Americanism Essay Contest

Congratulations are extended to many of our students for their efforts in the 2022-2023 Americanism Essay Contest sponsored by the Brick Elks Lodge of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks of the United States of America. Students were asked to author an essay answering the question, “What is your American Dream?” St. Dominic School students rose above the competition explaining what dream they have for the United States of America. This year there were four divisions which included 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grades. The winners for each division are as follows: Grade 5: 1st Place - Jack Ducey, 2nd Place - Angelina Jose Grade 6:  1st Place - Amelia Harrington, 2nd Place - Caitlyn Gambert Grade 7: 1st Place - Valeria Astralaga, 2nd Place - Ava Luizzi, 3rd Place - Olivia Dolan Grade 8: 1st Place - Alexa Lubach, 2nd Place - Mackayla Morreale 3rd Place - Anthony Streeter These winners will move on to the next level of competition at the District Level and possibly the State and National levels. Let’s go Blue Jays! An awards luncheon will also be held in April at the Brick Elks Lodge. Our winners are excited to attend the festivities with their families. Saint Dominic School is extremely proud of these students’ accomplishments, and we congratulate them on this wonderful honor!

April Lunch Menu

The Saint Dominic Kitchen Staff is excited to offer the school students hot lunch options again this year! Lunch meals may be purchased daily for $4.00. -or- Multiple meal tickets may be purchased in advance. 10 meals for $40.00. or 20 meals for $80.0. All money for hot lunch options, bagels, and/or salads must be sent to school in an envelope marked with the student's name and homeroom and will be collected by the teacher upon taking the morning lunch count. ONLY money for the purchase of lunch will be collected at that time. Any money for a child wishing to purchase a snack from the snack stand must remain with the child and be utilized directly at the stand. Lunch tickets remain at school and are distributed as needed. Lunch Tickets are for complete meals only and may not be used to purchase snacks. All checks must be made payable to St. Dominic School. Parents are asked to include the student's name and homeroom on the check. Reminder: In the event of an emergency or if your child forgets their lunch or lunch money, they will be allowed to charge for that day. Payment of that charge must be remitted the following day.

Diocesan Tuition Assistance for the 2023-2024 School Year

Tuition assistance is awarded each year to families with children in Grades K-12 through the Diocesan Tuition Assistance Program. Financial awards are made based on financial need. In order to ensure a fair and impartial analysis, applications are made through FACTS Management. There are two application rounds in which families can apply. The deadline for the first round ended on March 1, 2023; however, parents who missed the deadline can still apply during Round 2. Applications that are submitted for Round 2 must be submitted by May 12, 2023. Please be aware that applications are not complete until all supporting documents are uploaded, faxed, or received through USPS mail.

Saint Dominic Parish Youth Group Flower Sale

Donovan Catholic Grants the Griffin Merit Award to an 8th Grade Student

Please join us in congratulating Matthew Logan, upon receiving Griffin Merit Award from Donovan Catholic! Matthew received this award in recognition of his outstanding potential. Matthew has been identified as a student capable of excelling in an educational curriculum for academically gifted students and has been placed in Honors Courses for his freshman year. The amount awarded for this scholarship is $500.00 per year. Congratulations Matthew!

8th Grade Student Accepted Into MATES!

Congratulations to Kyle Koppin, who was accepted into MATES! Kyle was granted acceptance based on his application and entrance test performance.   MATES is a specialized high school developed around the marine and environmental science theme. MATES is geared toward students who wish to concentrate their studies in the areas of math and science.  MATES offers a rigorous academic course of study instructed at the honors level and satisfies all of the state requirements necessary for high school graduation and beyond.  Congratulations to Kyle!
