Parent Teacher Conferences

The recent pandemic brought about many shifts to the school calendar as well as changes in procedures in order to keep everyone safe. Interestingly, we found many silver linings.

One silver lining is the virtual method of connecting parents and teachers in order to hold conferences. Parents reported back that it was much easier to connect online than to try to acquire a day off, to coordinate meetings for multiple children, to hurry from one meeting to another, to be delayed due to the conference ahead of yours running long, childcare, etc.

So, we shall continue with virtual conferences.

Virtual conferences will be held on Friday, December 1, 2023.

Parents will be able to schedule their December parent-teacher conference, beginning Monday, November 6, 2023, by clicking the link below.

Good communication between parents and teachers creates a positive atmosphere for children to learn. All of the conferences are scheduled at ten-minute intervals so that every parent has the opportunity for a short meeting with the teacher. If you have a serious concern, you may need to schedule a longer appointment at another time.

Report Cards will be made available online as 3:00 P.M. on

Friday, December 1 for grades K through 8.

Dress Code Notice & Winter Uniform Reminder

Dear Parents,

Some of the students opted for fad haircuts, coloring their hair, and letting their hair grow over the summer.

I allowed September to be a transitional time - an opportunity for a return to the required dress code. It is now almost November and I am seeing that many students are not in compliance.

November 1 is the start of Winter Uniforms. This is also the date where the outlined dress code will be enforced.

Please be reminded:

JEWELRY & HAIR:

  • Necklaces (other than religious medals), bracelets, hair wraps, dangling earrings, nail polish/gels/tips and make-up are not permitted.
  • Simple watches ONLY - no smart watches may be worn by both boys and girls.
  • Girls may wear small post earrings; however, earrings for boys are not permitted.
  • Boys’ hair should be short and well groomed. Hair length may not exceed the back of the shirt collar and should be above the eyes.
  • Fad haircuts and hair coloring/highlighting of any kind are prohibited.
  • Body piercing or body art is prohibited.

Thank you for your immediate compliance and support. After November 1, 2023, detentions will be assigned.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Elizabeth Tonkovich

Principal

Winter uniforms are expected to be worn by all students in PreK through 8th grade beginning Wednesday, November 1, 2023.

Parents are reminded that students play outside for recess even during winter months. Please make sure your children come to school with appropriate outerwear.

Partners in Faith

The November edition of Partners in Faith is here!

Thanksgiving Day is a wonderful chance to give thanks to God for all His blessings to us, and should encourage us to be generous with others. The main article on page one gives a few practical ways to make Thanksgiving more meaningful.

Joshua and his family dedicated themselves to serving the Lord, even when few around them would – much like now. Find simple, effective suggestions in our main feature on page two to help your family imitate Joshua’s faithfulness today.

The Scripture this month covers Jesus’ parable of the Sorting of the Sheep and the Goats. It’s a powerful statement: Whatever we do to the “least” of our brethren, He Himself receives personally. How can parents encourage children to be like the “sheep” of Jesus’ parable, and not the “goats?” See the Scripture Lesson on page two to find out.

Church Contributions

A review of the weekly contributions has been completed, and it has been brought to our attention that many families are in arrears. According to the school contract, families must contribute a minimum of $10.00 per week in order to qualify for the "Active Registered Catholic" tuition rate from January 1, 2023 to November 30, 2023.

We are aware that this year has continued to present challenges to many of our families and are thankful for all of their continued support to our Parish. If you are behind in your contributions or have any questions regarding tuition, please contact Mrs. Christine Gallahue in the rectory office at 732-840-1410. Thank you!

Saint Dominic Parish offers the ability of setting up recurring or one-time basis Church donations using your credit card or automatic withdrawal from your bank account (ACH). The process is completely handled by you, the donator.

By accessing the secure Website, you create a log-on and set up or modify your payment schedule or even to make a one-time donation. Once you set up your account, you can make changes whenever you want; no phone calls are necessary to the parish office to change or even cancel your arrangement. Eliminate writing checks each week!
