PSA News

Please mark your calendars for first PSA meeting of the year! We will be meeting on Thursday, September 14th from 7-8pm in the lower school cafeteria (the HUB). All are welcome.

MAP Testing

MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) Testing (K-gr. 8) begins tomorrow, Monday 9/11, and will continue over the next few weeks. Teachers will let you know when your student is scheduled to test. Please make sure your student gets a good night’s sleep and eats a hearty breakfast to prepare.

SJS Choir

We would like to invite any interested students in Grades 3-8 to sign up for the choir, which sings at the monthly All-School Masses. The choir rehearses every Wednesday from 2:40-3:20pm in the Music Room, and the first rehearsal begins this Wednesday, September 13th. Please email Choir Director, Carlo Serrano if your child will be joining.

Volunteer VIRTUS Training

All SJS volunteers must follow the guidelines of the School including a 1-time completion of the VIRTUS workshop available through the Archdiocese of Boston. Volunteers can choose any location/time, but online registration is mandatory. SJS is offering a VIRTUS Training TOMORROW Monday, September 11th from 6:00-9:00pm in the Lower School Cafeteria (the HUB).

Performing Arts - Instrument Lessons and Concert Band

Paul Effman music will be offering music lessons again this school year! Lessons will be held on Thursday's after school. Linked below is the website for more info and a registration form. Students can sign up either on the website, or you can complete the form and return to the main office.

Speech & Debate

Rose Institute specializes in connecting speakers with their audiences. Since 2011, they have proudly provided our students with a platform to practice speech and debate. Complete with tailored lessons, exercises, games, speeches, in class presentations, and inter-school competitions, our programs are an absolute blast! Students in grades 4-8 are eligible to participate. For more info and to sign-up, follow the link below.

Street Hockey Tournament (a PSA Sponsored event)

Mark your calendars, grab your sticks, and join your fellow classmates for a fun-filled Friday night, September 22, 2023! Kindergarten - Grade 8 students are invited to play a street hockey tournament in the school parking lot. There will be competition brackets based on age. Students of all levels are welcome and encouraged to participate.  Balanced teams will be created within each age bracket. Make it a night out for the family as you cheer the kids on and connect with other Saint Joe's families!

Grades 2 & 3 - 4:30-5:45pm

Grades 4 & 5 - 5:45-7:00pm

Grades 6 & 8 - 7:00-8:15pm

Grades 1-5 Lunch & Recess Volunteers

We are excited to offer a Google Sheet that will be editable by all as a new method to sign-up for Lunch & Recess Volunteering. If you would like to be included on the lunch and recess distribution list please email [email protected] as she has volunteered to help get this program up and running. We are hopeful this change will give families an opportunity to sign up more frequently when it is convenient for them.

Thank You for Your Support for Sacred Heart School in Maui

Saint Joe’s is proud to have collected over $800 for Sacred Heart School in Lahaina on the island of Maui, Hawaii - what a testament to the generosity and compassion of our young students and a commitment to living their faith by demonstrating their dedication to those in need. In class, the students offered their heartfelt prayers for the healing and restoration of Lahaina and have written letters and cards expressing their support, which will be sent to the Maria Lanakila Church to reach those in need.
