Dear Saint Joseph School Community,
“We are an Easter people and Alleluia is our song!” is a statement attributed to Saint Augustine of Hippo and famously quoted by Saint John Paul II. It is a stirring sentiment, but what does it mean?
Being an Easter people means that the joy of the Resurrection has truly touched and transformed our hearts in a real, personal and particular way. The Resurrection of Jesus Christ is not simply a concept or a happy thought; rather, it is an event that changed human history and must change us as well, through our daily encounter with Jesus! In a world filled with darkness, we are people of light; in a world where there is death, we are people of life; in a world where there is despair, we are a people of hope. The Resurrection did not remove the struggles and difficulties of this imperfect world, as we know all too well. Rather, the Resurrection of Jesus points our minds and hearts to a better world, the promise of heaven, and strengthens us to transform this present world into a place of forgiveness, love and peace. If not us, than who?
Saint Joseph School is helping to strengthen our students to transform and lead the world into a better future. Filled with hope, may the Lord bless you, your families and all of our school children this Easter Season.
God bless,
Father Bryan
