Hammerhead Shark Sighting

Grade 5 held a practice session of their "Second Step Curriculum centered on Assertiveness Skills.

Practicing using their body, words, and tone of voice, to communicate what they need/want helps students solve their own problems and helps them stand up for themselves and others.  The students were given scenarios in which they role played a problem with another student, kept their head up and shoulders back, and used calm and respectful words to stand up for themselves.

Birthday Book Donation Program

Thank you to our September Birthday Book Donation Program participants: Luke Jennison, Julian Hart, and Casey Denitizio!

As a reminder, families can donate a book to the library as part of a student's birthday celebration!  When families make a donation in celebration of their student's birthday, the student is able to pick a new book from the “Birthday Book Cart”, a bookplate with the student's name is placed in the front of the book, and the student can checkout the book, first, before it is circulated in our library as a new title.  Books may be also given at holidays, in honor of a teacher, relative, friend, or in memoriam.

Library Lunch Bunch

The Library is hosting a Grade 5 Lunch Bunch on Tuesday, November 22, during lunch. We will be reading the book “The Perfect Score” by Rob Buyea. The story will be introduced during Grade 5 Library classes and students may borrow the book and join us for the discussion.

Grade 4 Lunch Bunch students joined the librarians for a joyful and lively discussion on the book "Save Me A Seat" by Sarah Weeks and Gita Varadarajan. They learned about the trials of children who come to live and assimilate in a different country. Thank you to the students who participated!
