Saint Lucia Crowned ‘Caribbean's Leading Honeymoon Destination’

Saint Lucia has won the award for ‘Caribbean’s Leading Honeymoon Destination’ at the 28th annual World Travel Awards. President and Founder of World Travel Awards, Graham Cooke, presented the award to Tourism Minister Hon. Dr. Ernest Hilaire at the ongoing Dubai Expo, in the presence of the other senior tourism officials. 

The win represents the island’s eighth consecutive title as ‘Caribbean Leading Honeymoon destination and twelfth overall, of the same title.

Strategically Positioning Destination Saint Lucia at FCCA 2021

Tourism Officials from Saint Lucia will strategically position the destination, and place special highlights on Her immersive offerings, as industry representatives meet to participate in the Florida Caribbean Cruise Association (FCCA) Conference, taking place in Panama City from October 18-21, 2021. The high-level conference will allow industry leaders to network, share ideas, examine best practices, and establish business initiatives with top-level cruise executives.

Jamaican Hotelier Named New Caribbean Hotel & Tourism Association President

Respected Caribbean hotelier Nicola Madden-Greig has been named the new president of the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association (CHTA).

Caribbean’s Travel and Tourism expected to recover faster than rest of world

The Caribbean’s Travel & Tourism sector is recovering at a faster rate than any other region in the world, according to new research from the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC).

The WTTC said that Caribbean’s Travel & Tourism contribution to GDP is expected to rise more than 47 per cent this year, compared to just 30.7 per cent globally.

WTTC, which represents the global Travel & Tourism private sector, said the recovery of the sector globally has been hindered by the lack of international coordination, severe travel restrictions and slower vaccination rates...Read More

Micheala Poleon’s Recipe For Success

Charting a successful course in the all-important tourism sector in Saint Lucia is something that thousands of Saint Lucians have embarked on over the nearly five decades since the island embraced the sector. Today, many continue to make invaluable contributions to the sector globally.

Twenty-one-year-old Micheala Poleon is among those who seem destined to make their mark in the industry. For the past five years, the Barnard Hill, Castries resident has been sharpening her culinary skills as she sets her eyes and hopes on gastronomical greatness.

In 2016, while she was a sixteen-year-old student at Ciceron Secondary School, Micheala began training in the Kitchen Department at Sandals Halcyon for a cooking competition. She subsequently did a three-month apprenticeship programme at Royalton Saint Lucia Resort & Spa.
